Matt Lipski here from Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Just bought my second bike a day ago. 2000 Ducati Monster 750 Dark. It needs a little work, and It was an impulse buy. But I just really wanted that italian girl between my legs! Haha! Hopefully I can get her on the road soon!
Im 18, and do all this on my own, so sorry for any dumb questions, and appreciate all help!
I have a 1981 Yamaha Maxim 550 (Bobber/ chopper i built)
I have been riding for a few years now, and raced dirtbikes for a couple years.
I will be leaving for the US Navy in October and plan to get as many miles on 2 wheels in as possible!

Welcome!  Yea, I don't think they are going to let you ship out with a Ducati...

Stevens Point.... home of Point Beer!  I trained with Schneider National in Green Bay back in '89 (when I got out of the Army, BTW...) so I've got a few miles around that area.

What kind of work do you need to do to the Dark?  Is it running/drivable at this point?

Yeah, I dont think so either. Yes thats us here in Point
The guy I bought it from said it he rode it all last year. When he parked it, apparently gas leaked into the case, and he changed it and everything. but when he tried to start it, it wasnt getting fuel to the carbs. He put some starting fluid in the cylinders, and it fires off fine. I bought a new fuel pump for it, and hopefully thats the problem. Thats what he told me to buy.
If worst comes to worst, he said I could return the bike for a full refund! So I couldnt pass it up.

Well... assuming you got a fair deal on it, and it's not all crashed up, I'll bet we can come up with a fix for you!   [beer]

I'd go ahead and make a post in the forum about it, someone may know where to steer you and save you some time.

I ended up paying 1700 for it. I will make a thread on it.
