Oil leak behind front sprocket (and WTF is in the "Final Drive Kit")?

MODEL: 2002 M750ie recently acquired (PO and title said ~5k miles, but can't verify since it came without speedo)

EXPERIENCE: New to Ducati, and fairly new to wrenching, but have done a little work on my DR650 (NSU replacement which involves clutch disassembly)

PROBLEM: Oil leak from seal behind front sprocket

I looked at the parts diagrams for my specific model. My first thought was: Suzuki does a better job of making things clear in this department. Next thought: What the heck am I looking for?
I couldn't locate what I expected to see based on looking at the bike. There didn't seem to be an obvious gasket or seal, but that could be because I haven't taken this bike apart yet and I'm not clear on what I'm looking at.
What exactly is contained in 676.2.039.1A ("Final Drive Kit")?
Are there The outside plates of the chain are looking a bit on the rusty side, so I'm planning on replacing that, and figured I'd replace the two sprockets as well while I'm at it.
If the Final Drive Kit includes some gaskets or seals then it might be worth it, but if is only the sprockets and chain, it seems worthwhile to investigate vendors other than OEM Ducati (as long as I go with steel sprockets).
As far as I can tell stock specs are 15T front and 41T rear with a 520x102 chain. Is that right?
However, this doesn't resolve the oil leak issue...
Help with any/all of these issues would be most appreciated, and if you're in the Philly neighborhood we should meet for a beverage.

There is a seal on the output shaft that can be leaking, but make sure.  Could be a leaking slave or clutch push-rod O rings.  Moisture at the weep hole on the slave indicates a leaking slave.  You will need to remove the slave to see the weep hole.  Clean the area real well, run, inspect.  A final drive kit is chain and sprockets.  Our sponsors will sell you a better kit for less money.

Yep, you have the stock specs correct.  Many people either go up one or two teeth in the rear or down one in front.  If the only problem is surface rust on the sideplates, ride the bike a while so you can get an idea how you might want to go on gearing.

There are a few posts regarding the oil leak by the output shaft, but usually is a leaky slave, or the seals on the push rod are shot . . .

Ducati is the pretty girl that can't walk in heels without stumbling. I still love her.
