Actually, all years of the s2r are open loop. I have an 07 and it's open loop.
I love mine, great for commuting and for the twisties.

That's just the 800, the 1000ds was closed loop.

I've got 24k miles on my 2005 S2R 800.
I ride to work everyday (50 miles), go to the track once a month and usually take a long trip once a month - usually to watch races in NoCal. So far this year rode to Tooele in Utah (for SBK/WSBK), Yosemite, and various NoCal locations (I live in LA). I think (obviously) a stock S2R 800 is the perfect all around bike.
The best mod I think I've done was the lane splitter mirrors. As a daily lane splitter, I think they're awesome. Having said that, I added an Arrow full system with a PC III and the bike feels like a 1000 in 2nd and 3rd. Also, it got even more perfecter when I added some ST forks with 1k springs that are fully adjustable (bought from Stu at Flight Cycles). Mama Mia that's a smooth ride.

Down side:
I've been through 3 aluminum sprockets, seems kind of high.
Cleaning white rims.
What you possess in the world will be found at the day of your death to belong to someone else. But what you are will be yours forever.

2005 S2R 800. Tail Chop, Boom Tube Exhaust, PCIII, Race Tech Spring, Ohlins rear shock, Adjustable ST2 forks with S2R 1K springs, Lane Splitter Mirrors,  Speedy Moto Frame Sliders, CF Bits here and there...

Thats for all the feedback guys. I ended up picking the bike up last night. I havent even had time to ride much yet (just around the block) but I love it so far. I would really like to raise the bars up a alittle and maybe add some slip on's.  [thumbsup]
