So someone was fatally shot at a local USPSA match. Here is a pic of the range, bays marked A&R were where the rifle shooter was and DOWNRANGE of that was where the match was being held. The red scribble is where the victim was hit.

I would never have shot there knowing there were shooters on the other side of the berm. Who in their right mind would even think this range design is a good idea? I'm betting that range will be out of business very soon.

just the kind of thing we don't need.. california too

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

It's just that whole 'people downrange from the rifle bays' idea that seems haywire.

Rifles/newbies/unknown skill set uprange of the pistol guys? Not sure why they chose that.

From the gofundme they setup seems like a nice young man and liked guns and motorcycles. [thumbsup]

New pistol this weekend... a Lipsey's Ruger Flattop .44SPC.  I call this the gun of contradiction...

1) It's a Ruger single-action.  I have never had good luck with Ruger pistols, and I've owned about 8 of them... swore I'd never buy another.
2) It's a .44.  I've never owned a .44 and never intended to... besides, .44 is so passe'.  I'm a .41 man, myself...
3) It's another mouth to feed.  I already load for 9 other rounds, I don't really need another, particularly one that requires a completely new set of hardware.

Sooo... here it is.  Bought it off a forum friend who says it does, indeed, shoot... so I'm taking him at his word.  I'll have to admit, I'll be pretty damned disappointed if it doesn't.  This will be my Last and Final Attempt with a Ruger SA.  I could have spent the money on a case of 5.56 or 7.62 (which I need more than another pistol) but everyone has to have one flaw.

I was going to test drive it Saturday but just found out they are having a promotional event Saturday, so I might go Friday night or Sunday.

There is nothing passe about a .44.

I regret selling my 629.  I will be getting another one.
It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

...but it's not.  It's a .429...  ;)  Whereas, the .41 is .410... getting all your money's worth.

I've made the command decision that I must go shooting today instead of this weekend...  inquiring minds want to know.
