Taller windscreen for 796 Monster

I already have a slightly bigger aftermarket mini-fairing on the 796, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of or has experience with a bigger/taller screen for the Monster that wouldn't make it look like a 'wing?  Preferably something that I could put on and take off fairly easy... I only want it for longer trips.

Depends on how serious you are about wind protection. I travel with friends several times a year from the California central valley to the central coast, about 2 1/2 hours, over the costal mountains where the temperature fluctuation is about 50 degrees and with wind gusts of up to 40-50 mph! I love naked bikes but I could no longer take the beating from the wind and at times getting soaked by rain and being chilled to the core.
I found the National cycle screen, very ugly and large , but performed its job flawlessly. I later bought the smaller, tinted version of the same screen which performed better because it did not blow the wind at my helmet. I have a puig fly screen that is slightly larger than the original style that I can sell you, but if you want real protection, you have to go big....

Great FHE,  [clap] [clap] [clap] been thinking of getting the National Cycle Screen, the tall one is a bit too tall and short one only comes in tinted.

Wonder if National Cycle Screen can trim the tall clear screen into shorter clear one?

I had one of those universal NC screens on first my 400 twin (which, with a 20+ MPH front wind would actually slow it down) and then my 750 Four (which didn't have that problem.)  I remember them being fairly easy to take on and off... how was it on the Ducati?

I'm 6'2" and have to set fairly upright (bad back) so I get all the wind.  The (smoked) shorter screen is pretty close to what I'm looking for, I just want to be able to take it off/on easily.  I already have a Gen-X screen on it (probably similar to your Puig) it helps, but just not enough on the road.

This was my concern also, I'm not a fan of tinted screens and the clear NC screen is less noticeable when installed. The tall screen is also a few inches wider than the tinted version and does a great job with protection. The NC customer service was very good and sold me the tinted screen at a discount since I had the tall screen already. I did not ask if a clear version of the tinted screen can be ordered.

The screen is "fairly" easy to take off/on. Depends on if you've pulled the headlight /speedo assembly before? I've done it enough time that I can say it is easy. A clamp on each fork tube, the headlight must be removed to fit the clamps just under the top triple clamp, reattach the headlight and  finally the screen with four screws.

I'm 6'3" ,  you don't know where the wind will hit you till you try the screens out as we all sit differently. The tall screen worked perfectly and made the next trip I used it on night and day different in better comfort. I just noticed when I sat a certain way I received lots of wind noise at my helmet. I moved around and quickly found a quiet spot while riding. I used the smaller screen for a longer ride but I did not experience the same extreme conditions I had with the Tall screen.

Those small screens will all be fairly close in wind protection. Until I rode with the tall screen, I had no idea how much the effect the wind had on my body. I wasn't as tired after the ride and I had much greater sound quality with my headset.

I found that with the NC install on my old 750... just a slight adjustment fore or aft with the screen (it was one of the universal fit ones with adjustment rods) made a big difference where the wind hit you.

I agree... I would rather have clear than smoked, I'll have to contact NC and see if they can make the short screen in clear.  In your two pictures above, the clear one, even though bigger, is less obtrusive.

If they can make the shorter screen in clear, I will buy one.   [clap] [clap] [clap] [Dolph]
