Really? I'm just getting into this, how does being refrigerated adversely affect it?

You'd have to read up on it. I do know that the fridge make the beast with two backss it up.

Well shit. Just did a little more research and there doesn't seem to be any consensus. Everything from brew at room temp with room temp water to in the fridge with ice water, 8-12 hours versus 18-24 hours and everything in between. Then there's the folk who brew it for well over 24 hours then dilute it 50/50 with either hot or cold water (or milk, no thanks).

I go 12hrs ish, room temperature. Avoid the fridge during brewing. Them little beans get chilly in that cold water and don't deliver the full punch.

I just eyeball it. Usually 4-5 scoops ground Fresh' for the press. Fill it with water.

I bought my wife a KitchenAid cold-brew maker for her birthday, it seems to work pretty well.  It has a microperf 'drum' you set in the middle full of coffee and you pour water through it and let it set for 24.  I don't know if she puts it in the fridgeitater to brew or not... I'll have to axe.  My only complaint, besides the $100 price, is it doesn't make just a whole lot... I think it yields around 60oz... and it uses a good deal of beans.
