Any ideas how much the 15K maintenance cost for a Monster 796 ABS?

I remember my 696 15K maintenance being around $800 in expensive Hawaii! Appreciate the input.

Contacted a local service shop... I was told service can be 1000-1200. Sound about right?

I believe it is fairly important to have some kind of list describing the Ducati service costs. I read an article about Ducati shops across the nation charging double of what a service should cost.

I believe the article mentioned a Ducati selling point being reduced maintenance costs.

Sounds a bit high to me. I paid that for my 4valve maintenance.

For my 695 I was just quoted 1000$ parts and labor including belts from a reputable non-dealer. 

People price the services differently.  Some charge extra for each valve adjusted some a fixed price.  Hourly rates also vary greatly not only from shop to shop, but geographically.  Also, some include extras like brake fluid and fork fluid changes, some don't.

there should be a Ducati Spa mandated chart visible in the service reception area of EVERY SHOP detailing what jobs are done for each service . . . Dealers/Shops may include some "extra" but labour for your service should be around 6.5~7.5hrs plus parts . . .

Some shops charge $75/hr others $125/hr . . . Some give you a FR that includes parts/fluids

The shop I last took the 821 to does not include the fork oil change in the quoted price for the 18k service. They also charge extra if more than 2 valves need to be adjusted. But it does include new brake fluid. Keep in mind this is in Southern California.

Yes, the charts let the customer know, WHAT is included in LABOUR/JOBS to be performed, NOT parts and costs of said parts . . .

its going to cost you 1000 to 1,200.  Justified or not. breakdown or not. hours or flat. In short, its a business and thats what they all charge (give or teak a few bucks) for the 696/796/1100 15k maintenance.
1000 would be cheap.

As an example, I just had my 7500mi service done at a Ducati shop, total bill OTD was just short of $1500... but that also included a new rear Rosso II... so call it $1200.  New belts, new fluids everywhere (but probably not the forks, at least on the 7500mi service...) including having to bleed the air-locked rear ABS line.  They washed it and it looked like new...

6 total hours of book labor... $750, $650 of parts, including a $200 tire.  Seems reasonable to me...

It sort of surprised me... I didn't expect that.  I mean, they got it clean!  ...including all the baked on chain lube on the cans, and elsewhere.

Things that get cleaned on my bike somewhat regularly (besides the chain, that's no less than weekly):
Chain fling near the CS sprocket and battery box
Tank (waterless spray clean/wax)
Mirrors
Headlight
Gauge screen

I ALWAYS, delivered bikes cleaned, that is part of the process for any service a dealer makes . . . For me it was/is unacceptable to deliver a vehicle dirty . . .

Well, this isn't new bike delivery...it's after a service.  But I'll agree with you, it would be bad business to release a bike out of service all yucked up.
