I had to do a whole lot of superslab last weekend, so I decided to take the bike since I havent ridden in a while.  Anyways, I ended up getting around 143 miles before the low fuel light came on, and went another 10 or so until the nearest station.  Ended up getting around 42-43 mpg.  Is this normal?  Good, bad, etc?  Oh, 1996 M900 with a fairing if it matters.  And I was riding anywhere from 80-90.

That sounds about right.  Most air-cooled monsters get about 40-50mpg on the highway.

That is the norm but it can do better. I got upwards of 55-60mpg on my 1995 m900 with 944 hi-comp kit. im doing 50mpg on the dot with my current S2R1000 when its straight superslab. You can squeeze more if you had a cruise control.

Normally I get 45mpg (brit gallon btw) but have had 55mpg on a run.

Sweet another mpg thread.  I get 35 to 40 on my 900 with FBF pistons and stage 2 jets.  The best I have ever got was 46 during a gentle ride through the twisties. My bike doesn't see a lot of slab.

48mpg recently for the M750, that's mixed driving - spirited, highway, and city.

erm ok i'm a bit lost here. maybe i need to work on my math. But...

According to the ducati bumph the tank on monsters up to 2000 takes almost 14 litres.
Now  not being very good with metric . 5 litres is roughly  1 gallon. right?
so if i get 135 miles before i chicken out and fill up fuel light had been on for about 10 miles then went out for 5 then back on.
Then thats 45ish miles to the gallon?
for a 600 is that good bad or ugly?

1 gallon is 3.75 litres. But by your screenname you might be in Britain, where the gallon/litre conversion is different  :-X

KEH

I feel like a loser  :-[. My '99 M750 only gets 35-38 mpgs in mixed stop and go / highway riding. It has a K&N and jet kit. I used to get 40-45 until I had my carbs rebuilt about a year ago. It runs like a champ, so I haven't messed around with it.

1 U.S. gallon = 3.78 litres
1 Imp. gallon = 4.546 litres

1 mile = .62 kms

Not sure how fast Warp 9 is in metric or Imperial though   ;D

What's that work out to in Parsecs?

49mpg streets and hills, daily commute but avoiding stop and go lights by taking back roads.
Monster 620.
