Still one of the most beautiful cars ever.  [drool]

My pleasure. The GT 40 has stood the test of time and then some. They pretty much knocked it out the park when the designed it.

That's incredible.

Quite a labor of love and ignoring costs ;D

Nelson ledges is a cool track near me. I've driven it a few times.

If you want to see them run in person.

The wife and I attended this year, the next one is in 2020.
In short, the Le Mans Classic is run every other year on the 24 Hours of Le Mans track. It is open to any car that has every competed in the 24 hour race.

Divided into 6 grids; #1) 1923 > 1939 #2) 1949 > 1956 #3) 1957 > 1961 #4) 1962 > 1965 #5) 1966 > 1971 #6) 1972 > 1981 plus Group C, Jaguars and Porsches.

Each grid races three times for ~ 1 hour on Saturday and Sunday (including night sessions) plus practice and qualifing on Friday.

The wife now understands my love of GT 40's and late '60s early '70s front engine Ferrari's.  [bow_down]

If you decide to go stay near the train station, the T-1 tramline's last stop going south is inside the track ~15 minute walk to our grandstand. Plus the train station is a good place to buy water, much needed in 95*+ heat. Book early, the hotels sell out a year in advance.
A conclusion is the place you got tired of thinking

FFS I'm gonna have to figure out how to see that.

I suppose you'll say they had a bunch of 917's and V-12 Ferraris running around. Damn.

and 427 Corvette's with sidepipes, it's as much ear candy as it is eye candy.  [drool]
After awhile you can be standing in line for  [drink] and tell which grid is on the track and what car just went by.

Group C was insane, we are talking turbine loud, almost top fuel loud.

Our hotel was 8 to 9 miles from the track, early in the morning you could hear the race in the distance.

They are filming a Ford vs Ferrari movie here in Savannah, I got a chance to see them run one of the gt40's on an old Indy lights track in town, such a cool car.

I'm at the vintage festival at Watkins Glen this weekend and got a ton of pics of two awesome GT40's. Man o man, what a machine!

I have over 100 pics to upload when I get back to WiFi.
