Hey guys, so I have a 2014 1200s that my friend crashed last season. I am starting to collect parts to put it back on the road and found a good deal on the parts I need but they all come from a 2018 1200s that is being totally customized

-tank
-subframe
-seat
-rearsets

I dont really see a major difference on frame engine so I'd guess as long as I have that hardware then it should all work but kinda want some reassurance  [beer]

You can check everything by comparing part numbers. By the look of it they're all different.

yes, they are all different in shape but that doesnot necessarily mean that they won't fit

This coming from a guy that put an entirely different model clutch basket and primary gear on his bike. :P

Chances are you can make it all work. You just might have to replace some additional stuff like brackets.

I know, right [laugh]

IIRC my parts had the last digit different, I took a risk and assumed its to do with dual-mass gear or/and damper springs. Turned out it's 100% fit, lucky for me.

Often, if it is the same generation the differences are minor differences like color.  If the parts numbers are the same, good to go.  Otherwise, who knows?  Other sources may help, like seeing what Sargent seats fit what years.

The architecture of that engine has not changed much in the last 50 years.

Frames, tanks, seat.... those have changed a lot.

we started taking the 2014 apart and now just waiting for the new tank and seat to arrive

we already have the 2018 subframe and rearsets

we are not strangers to monsters, but I wanted to ask before spending a ton on parts
