How often should I change the oil?  I hve an 08 695, the owners manual says at 600 miles, 7500 miles and so on.  Seems to be a little legnthy.  Who makes the best synthetic out there?  Anyone have experience with particular oil I should steer clear of?  Thanks

I also have an M695.  You are wise to question the drain interval.  That model lacks an oil cooler and also has a tendency to run scary hot without the DP ecu.  I personally use Mobil MX4T 10W40 and change it every 3k miles.  TOB had a very informative oil thread.  Just be sure to use a full synthetic that is also appropriate for your wet clutch.

changed mine on or around the ballpark for 3k, but that's when I put my oil cooler on, so...
also had it changed at both services so far (bike has 7k on it now)

on one hand, bikes are generally run harder than cars, so it makes sense to keep fresh oil.

OTOH, I have a hard time believing that a modern, full synthetic will break down that quickly.

once I hit 9k, I suppose I'll have to make up my mind  ;)

how is the oil cooler working for you?  Is it worth it?  One of the mods I would like to do...

If you live in a consistently-really-hot climate then do it;  otherwise don't cuz it doesn't have that much of an effect.  As far as changing the oil.  Just change it approx every 3K and you'll be golden.  Cant go wrong with synthetic Mobil racing Mx4t.  Its like good quality olive oil for human beings...so many benefits.
Life is never ours to keep, we borrow it and then we have to give it back.

keeps the bike running in the 220-230 range... after doing the intake/exhaust/PCIII, my bike started running hotter (250-260 vs 220 when stock).
