I'll say it.
Why the bazinga calipers and OE 5-spokers?

I'd flip that budget every day and twice on Sunday, bazinga wheels and OE calipers.
But it's not my ride.

What is the difficulty of this engine swap? What is an approximate number of hours?

I do know that if you intend on keeping fuel injection (I would), you will at least have to cut out the straight horizontal tube (side to side) above the front engine mount & replace it with a curved tube to clear the throttle bodies.  Also, the early frames are 10mm engine mounting bolts, so you’d have to address that too.

Or, just build it into a 2002-2007 frame.

Had a 750 Paso Limited with Reno's 38mm Dellortos fitted. Rode it until the first 25 851's arrived but never quite got used to the 16" front wheel which was current GP practice. A pal bought a 906 with 17" wheels which he kept for a very long time.

My first Duc was a 750 Limited. I’m still a sucker for the red wheels. I guess that’s why I love my S4 Senna so much.
Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.
