Recently, my NA6 became 3 cylinder in a 100 degree heat.
(I normally don't drive in the middle of the day.)
Then, it started beeping horn without me pressing horn button.
(The car has tendency to do random interesting things when it gets really hot.)

I made up quick video out from dash cam footage and some clips I shot while working on the car.

Yes, it's still running on original head gasket.

Being 28 years old car, with over 370,000 miles on it, it has no value as a vehicle.

It has been vandalized a few times and the damage is visible.

Every year CARB sends me a letter suggesting to scrap this car (and they would give me $1K for that).

It's small, all black, and lowered, doesn't have the safety features like today's car.

No, I don't keep driving this because of sentimental reason.

My dad had a '91, I loved that car.

Used to love tearing up the back roads of NorCal in that thing (I can't believe that he actually used to give me the keys to it), and still rue the day he sold it.

My sister had a ‘92 R model.  Oh man, when she would let me take it out......  [evil]

1.6 Baby !!!! it is a long nose though that helps

But amazing video....... Also whats your take on the Quick release hub  ...been thinking of doing this myself to make it easier to get in and out of the seat

Mine is a 1990 with 115k in KM's ...the most fun you can have on 4 wheels

The Q/R hub is NRG version 2, which I did back in 2008 (!).

It still works perfectly. There's no free play, at all.

Here's what I wrote back then.

Getting in & out of the car is much, much easier with steering wheel removed.
(I'm a small & skinny guy, but I have fixed back bucket (SPARCO REV 2), so I can't just "slide out" of the seat.)

The installation was relatively simple. But, NOT a simple plug & play. (requires some dremel work.)

Another thing is, you'd have to do something about a air bag warning light.
(I removed air bag module and back up battery, and air bag warning light. )

I wrote about these things in Miata.net 's post. And (surprisingly) all the pictures are still visible.

Just replacing spark plugs and spark plugs wires didn't completely cure the problem.

It still does the same thing (running on only 3 cylinders) if I re-start within 15 minutes or so.
(If I let it sit for more than 30 minutes, it would start and runs perfectly fine.)

So, today I checked the primary and secondary resistance of the coil pack.

They appeared to be okay (within spec), but there's still possibility of coil pack having intermittent problem.

The story continues.

BTW, the opening sequence was shot with vintage (1976 or 77) Nikon 50mm f1.4 lens. (Also, first part of the multi-meter work scene.)
