Direct clone of the stock pressure plate. eh. if your going to spend your money on a new plate, spend it on something that has more protection. anything that covers the springs is better than leaving them exposed.

huh?  it's a pressure plate, not a clutch cover.

Yes--but from personal experience, The level of protection from a pressure plate is overated and more of a marketing point. They don't do as good a job as a billet clutch cover--and they are a bit heavier. Since it is a rotating part, I'd rather add the weight of a billet cover rather than the pressure plate for protection.

Unless the whole point was to run without a cover at all.

To answer the question asked. YES, I bought this pressure plate and it has been installed on my S2R1K. It is NOT a clone of the pressed aluminum stocker by any means. It is not as aggressively styled as some others but I like it. I found no flaws in the workmanship and the fit was perfect.  I paired it with the TPO racing spring set  and was very satisfied with the results.

if the bike lands on the clutch, is a pressure plate with some protection for the springs really going to save anything?

yes. you know those posts that the screws go into? inmagine those snapped of (they are connected all the way into your engine).
