Didn't you recieve your old exhaust system? The dealer who installed my system returned my old exhaust system to me with all the old parts nicely wrapped and packeged in the new exhaust box ready to be shipped.

Good point.  Unless the work is warranty, you are given credit for the old part, or it is an exchange part you are entitled to your old parts.

I did - and the stock ECU was missing.  That was the first hint that something was amiss - and the reason why I took the bike apart.

Danaid  Thank you SOO much !  I owe you one.

all, important point here.

although the dealer may make good here... Ducati NA needs to know about things like this. This is how they keep their dealers and authorized techs in check. If someone really screwed up this bike only DNA can make good.

I installed mine myself and I believe that there is also information on the side that is against the airbox.  I just looked and the serial on my stock ecu is D081IU1MDJ-CND. Very close to mine but is Canadian. Anyone here install their own system? I was wondering if you put your filter in dry or did you oil it with K&N filter oil? I did appear to be dry out of the box.
Sorry to jump your thread.
The dealer saturated the filter with K&N brand oil, to the point that the pinkish oil was dripping out of the botton vent tube.

When I arrived home from the dealer after the install there was a puddle of oil on my truck bed, I freaked out and called the dealer and when I described the pinkish color oil it clued them to being only filter oil. They told my they just use bulk K&N oil, he also said they saturate the filter and the excess will runoff.

Yikes! Time to call that dealer to the carpet too. K&N specifically and in bold letters states NOT to saturate the element (for obvious reasons). Also, their statement that the excess will just run off! Ummm , yeah, right into your throttle bodies etc. Yuck.... did you take it back to them and have them clean the mess in your airbox etc?

Gents,
I called the dealer this morning, and they are going to 'investigate'.  I also sent them photos of the bolt that they forgot to put back on, as well as the bushing for the tank that was missing.

That was 9am - wonder if I will hear back from them today.

So? Did you hear back from them?

SteveH

All,
Thanks a bunch for all of the help and support.  I sent a communication to the dealer explaining the timeline of events, the exact symptoms, and photographs.  I again contacted DNA requesting that they arrange for my bike to be towed to the next closest Authorized Dealer; and be sure that the Regional Mgr is onsite to inspect the bike.
The biggest question is this - what should I really do ?  I am not happy that a bike with 650mi on it had two major overheat cycles, and extensive/extreme pinging.  Who knows what issues this may lead to down the line ?
Any idea what I should really look to do ??

I did hear from them.  I sent them a photograph of the ECU that is on the bike, as well as photos of the two missing bolts.  Additionally, I emailed them the video of the US bike showing 'M 696 RACE' on the display.  As the dealer currently has a demo with Termi's on it (that they installed), I requested that they fire up the bike to see what the display says.
Dontcha know it - but the salesman there (whom I trust) said that that bike as well does NOT show 'M 696 RACE' !  So I wrote them back questioning why in the world their service department is holding onto the DP ECUs....Supposedly the owner of the dealership is supposed to call me at some point today to discuss....
Its just really odd that they seemingly intentionally do not install the race ECU's.....

hey guys, this thread has got me a little paranoid. I recently had the temi kit, dp ecu installed on my 695. where would i find the new DP ecu on the bike (since i don't think the 695 shows 'racing' and how would i identify that i do in fact have the dp ecu in). Also do all dealers give Dyno results after this install, i did not receive one.

thanks.

Well I know for a fact that most dealers would NOT give a dyno sheet as most don't have dyno's. Plus it takes a fair amount of time just to hook the bike up and do a run...

I'm not sure of the exact location of your ECU but mine on an S4RS is under the tank, left side of the airbox. It should have DP on it if it was changed...

i believe the 696 ecu is forward under the actual tank,
have to remove the panels and lift the tank to find out....

Yes - this is what you need to do:

Remove the tank panels
Remove the allen bolt that is at the tail of the tank (Directly under the tool kit).  You access this from under the tail.
Remove the bushing bolts on the tank
Slide the gas tank back, the ECU will be atop the airbox behind the snorkels

All,
Just got off the phone with the owner of the dealership.  They state the following:

On their demo bike, they installed the DPECU, but it ran like crap...B/c at the time they didn't know about the coil problem, so they put the stock ECU back on.  The tech who did my 'install' was aware of this and did not do the DPECU install, as he was not aware of the coil fix.
I am totally pissed about this.  Especially b/c I asked 3 times, and they looked like I was a nutcase.  The owner is personally picking up my bike in about 2hours to work on it himself.  We will see what they are going to do for me; but at this point in time my biggest worry is how are they going to deal with any issues that may come down the line ?  Also, I don't believe I should be paying for the install to begin with.

We will see......

Raux

so they charged you for the full kit and only gave you half... that's CRAP!

Glad to see that you know for sure what the issue is now. You probably have already thought about this but ask for compensation. Tell them how you don't trust their shop any more and see what they'll do to earn your confidence.

Hope everything gets fixed!
