I'm new here, and to street riding in general.  I have experience riding dirt bikes and scooters, but never a larger displacement than about 350cc. I'm going a little middle (old?) age crazy and decided I wanted a bike.  I'm in love with Ducatis in general, and the Monster to be specific.

Took the MSF basic rider course recently and that really got my confidence up, and I scored my motorcycle license.

After looking around for a while, I found a used '06 s2r1000 and picked it up today.  Been riding all day today and having the time of my life.  I can't believe I waited so long to get a bike. 

I live in Alexandria, VA which is just outside of the Washington DC metro area.  Lots of traffic and congestion around here, so, even in a car, you've got to be on your toes when out on the roads. 

Thanks for letting me be part of the group, I've gotten so much out of the posts already, and I know this is a place I can turn to for support and camaraderie.
