I really love the Rookie Cup thing, this is terrible  :'(

One of the kids from the Red Bull Rookie Cup passed away today during an accident at VIR...

Crap...I was at that race, a buddy and I had gone around to the back of the track to watch it and when they came by at half speed we both knew something was up. I talked to someone later who had actually seen the incident and they said it was truely ugly...spare you the details and pray it doesn't end up on youtube.

It's always sad to hear.  And knowing that all his time was on the track, controlled environment wearing all the right gear  :(

Sorry to get argumentative in a reflective thread, but part of the joy of any motorsport or risky activity is reaching the end without injury.  What we love doing has nothing to do with crashing or being hit.  People say that a lot, but it just doesn't make sense to me.  Again, sorry.
