my brother-in-law was racing at gingerman raceway in south haven michigan on sunday.  apparently ducs-unlimited/DOC were there so i decided to ride out.  about 200 miles each way which was pretty fun in itself--even though everyone who said they'd go punked out at the last minute, but hey, i hadn't had a long solo trip in a while so i went for it.  lots of nice bikes and the red truck as well.

so i signed up for a couple of demo rides.  expecting a couple of trips around the parking lot, i was quite pleased that they had mapped out a 45 minute ride through country roads with hills and twisty turns.  good job event coordinators.

first up:  s4rs tri-color

since i'd purchased a 696 after debating some of the bigger monsters, i decided to try out the biggest most expensive one available.  quite nice.  torquey as you want.  don't get me wrong with what i'm about to say here, it was very nice, but it made me really happy that i bought the 696.  with the majority of my riding being daily city commuting, the larger engine and heavier bike just didn't seem as practical.  i bet it's tons of fun when opened up, but really, it just made me appreciate the nimble flickability of my bike.

next up:  sport classic s

this is the most uncomfortable, impractical thing i've ever sat on.  2 minutes in, my throttle hand was going numb.  by the time i got off it, my legs were sore and my back was aching.  i think i was using about 2 inches of the seat and the grips were vibrating like a "magic fingers" bed in a cheap hotel.  in short, i cannot wait to purchase one of these.  it was freakin awesome.  absolutely loved it.  comfort aside the engine revs up quick as you like, flicks through turns, and looks dead sexy.  i will own one of these one day.

LUCKY....I'm live so close, but it was the wrong weekend.  Girlfriend just moved back to MI after 4 months in NC, so I couldn't get out of town, except to go to a GOD DAMNED WEDDING.....BAH...

Looks like it was a good time.... If you're ever coming over this side of the state again, feel free to send me a PM, I'm always down to meet up for a ride.

Yeah, I was there on Sat. What a great weekend as far as weather. Could not have asked for more. I too rode the red SC. You are right in every way including the next purchase. An absolute blast to ride! Totally impractical, but who cares, it was just awesome.

I rode the HMs. That was fun, but dont see myself on that everyday. Comfy as far as seat position, but scary as hell in the turns (used to the monster). Took me all but the last 10 min of the demo to fell confident on it.

Too bad we didnt meet up. I'll def be there next year, maybe even try the track.
