this post is dedicated to speedog...
came back from a ride and noticed no indicators.upon investigation could not find flasher unit/relay.why because its part of the instrument cluster on
01/02 s4s.not wanting to part with $1400 for a second hand cluster i call on a guru friend of mine.so we go to it and dismantle the gauges and hey presto
a burnt out transistor.after some careful soldering we plug in gauges to find i have no odometer/time reset and still no indicators.oh well i can live with that.
a $10 flasher can later and presto i have conventional indicator system.please dont try this at home lol.

Good on ya for trying to fix it.  [thumbsup]
Industrial Girl had the same thing happen to her flasher unit.

You could install a bicycle speedo/odo unit so you at least can have a trip-meter again.

Nicely done!  I love seeing the fix-it attitude on issues like this.  I'd much rather rewire/solder/weld/machine anything than simply swap a part.  If I can't do it, there's always someone to be found who can.  How difficult was the soldering on that board?  I've been toying with the idea of going aftermarket speedo and keeping the LCDs for use as a trip meter and thermo gauge.  Now to find a place to put the cluster contrller board.........

now you just need to find a box to hide the stock stuff in and put a aftermarket gauge on there.  you already got the hard part done taking it apart.

I must suck at reading or something but what was this post about?
His indicators/signal lights did not work.  He opens up to find a burnt transistor. Im assuming he replaces the transistor but it is still broken?
Did his odometer reset or are the 2 lcd screens now read blank?

Did he ghetto rig his signal lights to work but now his gauge is messed up?

ive done that.  i have my stock gauge electronics sitting on the desk beside me, just waiting until i get un-lazy enough to make up a case to keep it in.  all the wiring is done, and i just need a new gauge setup.

I've thought about the motogadget guage as well, but I'd rather have a full sized speedo.  I don't pay that much attention to my revs, but have a tendency to over throttle when I'm out on the freeway so I like to keep tabs on my speed.  Ideally I want something that gives you an HUD on the inside of your visor so you clear off your guage cluster entirely, or at least put it down and out of sight.  Then again, I also want a Brutale.  Can't have everything now can we......
