I rode the monster to work this morning for the first time since last thursday.
I pull up to the front of the building, dismount and proceed to unlock the door. Just then, my new guy that started this last monday, pulls up on a big ass suzuki intruder. He dismounts and eyes the duc hard as walks past it.
  He catches up to me and the following conversation ensues.

Him- Hey man! Is that your Ducati?
Me- Yeah.
Him- Wow, those are really expensive!!
Me- That's what they tell me.
Him- Yeah man, Harley doesn't sell anything they make cheap.

  At this point i don't have anything else to say and just walk away.
Fast forward to 9:00am break.
I'm sitting at my desk filling out paperwork and dude walks up.

Him- So. How much did you pay for it?
Me(looking him straight in the eye)- After taxes it was just over $30,000.00. (i actually kept a straight face)
Him- Holy shit!! That is expensive!
Me- Well, you said it yourself. Harleys aren't cheap.

At this point he has nothing else to say and walks away.

Ha ha ha lol. Fire his arse.

I had a guy ask me what the insets in the tank on my SS streetfighter were for. I said "To decrease turning radius in high-speed maneuvers". He said "Wow. Great Idea. I'll see if I can have that done to mine". Theyr'e just dents from the clip-ons that happened when it was wrecked....

Used to get the same crap when I had the BMW Boxer cup rep.

People would say "I didn't know BMW made bikes"

I would reply with the classic

"I didn't know they made cars .....til I passed one"

So, I am guessing from this and the other thread. When someone asks us an uninformed or uneducated question or comment about our Ducati's, the correct thing to do is give them a smartass answer.

  Actually, my smartassedness only really started last week. I met a fellow monster owner for the first time in the parking lot of the local shopping center. I spent a few minutes stroking his ego by telling him how nice his bone stock 01M900 was. When i asked if he wanted to get together and ride sometime, he replied "no thanks, i don't ride with squids".
  When i asked what made him think i was a squid he said " only squids need that much gear ". He then rode off wearing a helmet, t-shirt, sneakers and shorts.

Wouldn't this be the new "Harley Street Fighter"

I tell harley riders in milwaukee my 749 dark cost $50,000 and it was the one used in matrix all the time they have no clue but then again they could tell me the same shit about their bikes because i have no clue and so on yea

Unfortunately, the heat found my stash of bodies at the landfill. So i've had to cut back on the mutilations for a while. 

I guess they changed the definition of "squid"....
