I wouldn't pay more than 5k for the bike assuming no flaking rockers, no reservoir issues, valve adjustment and belt replacement done recently, and bike really in good shape. 

be aware that 97 has the single phase voltage regulator though, which is kind of a deal breaker for me personally...
