ducati realizes thier mistake by changing the monsters looks and quickly tries to CYA by halting production. Soon the new monsters become the old monsters that no one wants....you cant give them away if you tried.

It will go down in ducati history as one of the biggest mistakes they ever made, and will become a joke around the water cooler at ducati dealerships everywhere.....

the people that purchased them will sell them for parts, and run off to buy the latest V-Rod that just came out.

i was actually going to get a speed triple until the 696 came out. the 695 didn't do it for me.

i love the pearl white 696!!!!!!!

I thought it was ugly when I first saw a photo of the 696, 
and then I thought it was really facking ugly when I saw it in person...

I do too much texting to remember syntax, spelling, etc... my apologies.

I personally love it(have one ordered)  I'm new to ducati's, and it seems like a lot of the "dislike" for the 696 comes from a familiarity with the older model.  Most of you have or are familiar with the older models, so to you it looks strange, wereas I have no preconceived idea of what it should look like.  I must agree with most of you that the stock cans are odd, but I think the performance slip ons or a black powdercoating go a long way.

Well, you should cancel the order and get something with real power like an S2R then.
Its a lot more that the fat cans...the whole design is one big catastrophe and a Kotau before the space ace style Kawasuky came up with.
Do you have the chance to see a Brutale or a TNT in person ?
Even a Tuono looks like a proper bike compared to that toy.
And again I appreciate all the tech stuff they did...that's what we asked for...not to make it fugly

This is the most rediculous thread. WE all love Ducatis! My 696 makes the same wonderful sound as my 1992 851 (well almost, the 851 revs higher). It is not the first Duc with a wet clutch, it is not the first Duc with high mount exhaust, it is not the first Duc that is radically styled (the 916 was a "radical" design for it's time, under seat exhaust, HAH, that will never work! single sided swing arm, NO WAY). WE all know the 916 is now thought of as one of the most sexy bikes ever. Do you think 355 Ferrari owners are bashing the pround new owners of the 599? Doubt it! Bash a rice rocket for Petes sake! ( Who is Pete? Hope you like your Duc which ever flavor you own) I'm out!! Peace!!

this thread should be in a suzuki or harley forum.. not a Ducati forum.. it is offending to 696 owners.. Look what you did to soldier707.. He couldn't take it anymore and traded it in for another brand!! all because you put his bike down..Not cool..
Are you the kind of guys that other threads in this forum complaint about? you know the kind... the ones that looks down on the other guys bike in his face.. That sounds like a jerk to me...Don't intend to offend anyone.. but that's what I would think if It happened to me.  or you wouldn't do that to another rider you just met on a 696 on your Sunday ride?

it may not be totally cool, but on the other hand people could lighten up too.

people have been calling the 4 valvers ugly for a long time due to the radiator and plumbing.   Not going to make me go anywhere.

One thread of people who don't know how to just keep quiet shouldn't send anyone running for the hills.   And if it does...well...we're not here to please 100% of the people 100% of the time.

I'll ride with people who aren't asshats...doesn't matter what the ride.  ugly bikes welcome at my house.
