then I would have to get a passport........hell I can't even get a tx drivers licesnse.........

I went to the tx drivers liscense place last week.  I took: Kentucky drivers liscense, Proof of TX car insurance, vehicle registration, Social Security card, and proof of tx residence.  The guy behind the counter actually said, I'll need to see your passport.  [bang] [bang]  I smiled and said, I'm an american......  I'm not trying to get into the country, just this state.  He said we need proof  [bang] [bang] I looked down at my Kentucky drivers liscense, Proof of TX car insurance, vehicle registration, Social Security card, and proof of tx residence and said really..........and what is this to you.  He said that without a passport, military id  or bith certificate, they couldn't prove I was me......I said what about my original ss card and state issued drivers liscense?  He said that they dont use a SS card as proof and other states don't have the same rules as TX for getting a liscence, so they can't use my liscense.  Keep in mind that i waited in line for like an hour and had to circle around the building for over 10 minutes just to park.  While waitng I noticed that I was the only person there that didn't speak spanish or ebonics...... [bang] [bang]  Now being the only "cracker" in the building I realized that I was no longer in Kansas anymore toto...  So, I verified that all I need to prove I was me in this state was a birth certificate.  You can get a birth certificate through the mail with just a small amount of information.  Hell, my mother-in-law got my sons mailed to her without question.  So I politely told the man that this fine state should just become it's own country so I wouldn't have to lie to myself and think I was in america anymore.

Call me wrong, but I couldn't help but wonder how many "legal immigrants" have walked into that building with less proof than me and walked out with a spiffy new TX DL.

Not at all--replace the "L" with a "T," and we're set to go.  [thumbsup]

me too.  unfortunately, I still suck wildly at snowboarding, so they would just laugh at me and poke me with sticks while I am trying to get back up.

Me TOO!
-but I still think it's crazy fun.  Major bacon. [bacon] [bacon] [bacon] [bacon]

And having a reason or not, why wouldn't we laugh at you and poke you with sticks?
We're your friends
That's what we do.  ;)  [thumbsup]
