Hey...
Great to see that you have kept this going.... much appreciated all around I'm sure....

Name: John
Location: NY, NY ... Financial District...
Bikes: 00' Monster M900S, 96 Honda VFR.... now I just need a track bike and I'm set...
How long I've been riding: I started when I was a tyke.... on a minibike, xr 80, IT 175 & 490... put it down for a while... and then started riding on the road at about 25. I'm 37 so I have a few healthy years of riding left in me.

Anyone want to ride in NYC??? We have a nice group and ride pretty frequently, backroads and on the track when it works out.

Welcome John, glad you finally found your way here! [thumbsup]

What are you thinking of for a track bike?

Thanks for the welcome.... Track bike is potentially a 05 GSXR 750... or a CBR 600RR.
and I need to replace the tach on my M900S monster if anyone has any brilliant ideas about where I can find one...  [thumbsup]

As for track bike...(though I hate to suggest it since we race against them and they're kind of our arch-rivals...), is the SV650.  Also known as the "poor man's Ducati".  There is so much you can do with them and there are parts everywhere for them.  The twin is a little cheaper to work on than the 4's.  If you're in NYC, then you'll probably be doing track days at Pocono, Loudon, Summit and maybe VIR (you should def. go to VIR).  These are all great tracks for the SVs..especially if you increase the displacement.  If you haven't done any or too much track riding...the GSX-R 750 and the like won't necessarily teach you how to ride well and quite frankly when you're out on the track with all those 600s and 750s..it's a zoo.

I've done two track days thus far on my VFR 750... that was definitely interesting... a bit on the heavy side but a blast to get out and have the bike be there when pushed a bit. The SV650's are great... I used to have a 99 650.... was totally fun... wrecked it... cracked the frame along all four welds... but I miswrote... the GSXR I looked at is a 600 not a 750...
Just had the potential to get a good deal on it so I might do it.
the SV's are nice... and cheap to...
