So i had to at the headlight off to rewire due to some meltage of wires going on, the headlight came off fine, but i cant get the friggin thing back on!!!   does the top of the head light fit on first, then some how get the bottom part with the screw and the tightening mechanism in there, or is it other way around? 

help please.. i dont want to duck tape it on .. ..  ..

Back the screw off a couple turns.

Hook the top on, then push rearward on the bottom, and it should snap into place.
Then tighten the screw, don't go overboard, just fairly snug.

Yup tried that, it doesn't seem to have a good fit around the ring at the bottom?  I've been messing around with this for an hour now, time to leave it alone before something breaks i'll try in the morning again. time for a few of these 

did you do anything to the lamp? including removing the 6 clips that keep the chrome front fairing and glass panel attached to the assembly.

The clips (v shaped) have to be put back on very precisely so they don't fowl the closure assembly.

Also, check the wiring at the back of the connector to the bulb, simply having it routed improperly will cause the probs you describe. You need to make sure the wires route out to the side while you are trying to put the assembly back on. Trust me, been there done that...
