Dainese Delmar Leather jacket Review

I recently purchased a Dainese Delmar leather Jacket. I had to see what the 3-D Bubble lining was all about.

I ordered my Jacket online and even bought a size smaller than usual. I took a chance but it paid off.

The Jacket showed up this morning and I wasted no time in putting it through it's paces so to speak.

On first blush the Jacket is the Black / Black model. It has reflective lettering on the sleeves w/ a 1/2 inch reflective line running down each arm in a slight curve from the lower shoulder to the edge of the sleeve cuff.

There is a reflective logo center chest and a cut out w/ reflective logo on center back. A Red Logo w/ White Dainese letters on the collar.

Titainium sandwitched Armor on the point of the shoulders w/composite hard armor w/ softer foam under the hard armor. Wave 5 Neck and upper shoulder protection is removeable.

The shoulders have rolled leather on the outside like the Santa Monica for added flexibility and comfort.

There are 2 zippered vents in the upper portion of the chest and 2 zippered exhaust vents in the lower sides of the jacket.

So much for the Tech stuff.

The Jacket flows air like no other perfed leather jacket I have worn. I felt like I was wearing an air conditioned jacket.

The Temperature was 77 degrees w/ a nice breeze when I went for a ride .

The jacket felt good. The 3-D Bubble lining made the Jacket feel cushy. The leather is very thick and soft.

I can't report on the claim of the Bubble lining keeping your body's warmth inside the Jacket when it gets colder. I'll let you know when it gets nippy here in South Eastern Ohio.

If you can get the bucks together I think you would find this to be a most wonderful riding Jacket. It is not even an average cost Jacket at $799 or list of $899 but it very well may be worth every penny !  Dolph

Got mine a week or two ago... can't believe how comfortable it is.  I got smaller than i thought i'd need, but i think i may have been able to go a size smaller.  I think it may pay off, i could feasibly fit a light sweater under if the weather drops to the lower 60's (it is decidedly well ventilated, and does get chilly at speed in cooler weather. But not unbearably so.)  Sitting in traffic in warm weather though, you'll notice the bubble liner doing it's thing.  I was sweating more in my mesh before.

Love the jacket, and Motowheels gives members a discount that more than makes up for shipping and tax (i'm same state).

Definite value for money.  Plus, it looks smokin'.

I normally wear a size 60 but took a chance and ordered a size 58 since 60s were sold out. The 58 fits fine even w/ a BMW back protector .  Dolph

Looks like a great jacket, thanks for the review.  I think I'm turning into a gear addict, working on another full set of gear [evil]

ive had my delmar for over a month now and its awesome!!

Its nice and soft without much need for break in and the 3d bubble does help, though it can get cold when the temp drops since it still flows a good amount of air.  I have mine fitted with the Dainese back protector as well and i feel very safe with all that armor.

My biggest complaint is that the speedhump prevents me from wearing a backpack.

I wear a pack with mine, just a small one that hangs below the hump....  biggest issue is getting both arms in it. ;)

How cold are you talking ? I have had mine and don't ride at night and we have been running about 10 degrees above normal w/ our temps here in Ohio so Daytime is still about 90 degrees.

I'm also thinking about getting another Dainese leather Jacket w/ the 3-D Bubble liner but if it is cold at 60 degrees or 55 degrees maybe I'll not .   Dolph

Does the neck protector not interfer w/ your Helmet in any way ? I took the neck protector out when I got mine since it felt uncomforable when I tried the jacket on.  Dolph

My neck protector didn't interfere with my helmet, but it did make my neck uncomfortable (pushing it into the front of the collar so i felt like i was going to choke.  So i took it out as well.

Any further reviews on how this jacket functions in colder weather?

I got tired of the cheap junk I bought from the very limited venders in my area, so while in the S.F. bay area I went to the Dainese store.

Pratically every product and color in the catologue! plus expert sizing and excellent customer service.

I left with a newsan jacket and delta pants in red, white, and black.

This was just a few days ago and i'm still thinking about all the other goodies I wanted to buy!

I'd imagine the non-perforated version works fine in cold weather,,, or if you have room to put a windproof liner/coat underneath that may help.  But really the thing just breaths well, which makes it an awesome jacket for high temps (i prefer my perforated Del Mar to the mesh jacket i had before for comfort alone, let alone safety).

I ended up getting a textile jacket with removable liner for (California) winter riding.

I bought a Dainese Newsan w, Bubble lining back in late October and have found that since it's not perfed it is much warmer than the perfed Delmar that I initally bought which stands to reason .

I will probably get one of the Ducati Corse leather Jackets by Dainese.

It comes w, the bubble lining .

I haven't  ridden since the middle of Nov. since the weather here just sunk into Winter w, highs in the 30s and then the 20s  w, either rain or snow .

I'm pretty bummed about going from the 70s to the 30s overnight and that's the way it's been .

The only time it warms up is when it blows 20-30 mph and rains and then the cold front comes through that night .

Now it's just way to cold for me to even think about riding .

High today was in the teens w, 30 mph winds, wind chill factor -10.   Dolph      :(

The neck protector doesnt really interfere with my helmet, its a non issue for me.  It did take some time getting use to but now i dont really notice it.

As far as riding in the cold... this thing really flows air like nothing else.  Ive been commuting to work in the morning and the temps have been around 35-45 and its definitely too cold at around 40.  Im wearing under armour cold gear and its still not enough because the wind flows right through it.

Luckily, i have a rain jacket that i can fit over the delmar made for biking and that alone makes things totally fine at temps right down to 30.

Ive actually considered getting another delmar but non perforated... but theyve raised the price and i just cant justify the price.  I may end up getting a ducati corse jacket instead.  I want a jacket that i can wear that looks kinda old school.

I am still in love with the jacket, i know its biased but i really think its hands down THE best looking jacket available.  Most other jackets either look too plain or are just too far out there.  the delmar just screams cool.
