Hi,  I've had my Monster 800ie for two years and have had a couple of bikes before that, but  I've never done a track day.  I think it would be great for learning a lot of new skills and what not.  So how does a person get involved in this?  By the way, I'm in Minneapolis.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like Track Addix does events in your area.

I'd recommend the school before you strike out on your own.

Once you do a track day you will really question why you ride on the street and you will wonder how you can turn your monster into a track bike ;D  All the previous advice is great, don't skimp on gear, especially gloves and boots.  Please send us a a report!

especially gloves and boots

I can't even begin to stress this point.  You can spend all you want on leathers, but if you wear cheaply constructed boots and mangle a foot, you'll be forever in pain anyway.  Stillie, my boyfriend, broke his right foot in several places during a crash at the track.  He is fully convinced that if he had been wearing boots with better armor that perhaps he wouldn't have suffered the damage he did.  You can find used boots all over the place, so go ahead and get the most you can afford.  I had a crash recently and was bruised and banged up, but because I was wearing top of the line boots, I had not a mark anywhere below the top of the boot.  There was no twisting, bashing, or jerking at all, and it wasn't a pretty crash.

Yeah, buy the expensive boots now because they are an option rather than a necessity. I now have to look for boots with a great deal of ankle support due to this crash.
