I ran across this website on engine breakin.  I'm looking for opinions on the validity of it.

edit: not sayin i did all the early oil changes, but i did rider her hard

Somebody brings this up every two or three months and we've been discussing it for years and years (okay, only five months on this site, but on the old site and several others).  Most people feel that it's a bit beyond what they're willing to do with a new bike that they plan to keep for a few years.

NOBODY has been able to come up with facts supporting the multiple early oil changes, and I've asked about that on several forums.

I've asked the question that if you take two equal new bikes and break in one as suggested at mototune and the other strictly according to the owner's manual, will you be able to tell which is which at 10,000 miles?  The answer is that there are too many variables to be able to tell the difference.

So next time I get a new bike, I'll make sure to get some combustion pressure against the rings once in a while and not get the engine hot, but otherwise break-in will be closer to what the manufacturer recommends.
