Anybody who loves there Monsters. DO NOT buy a trackbike. My dearly loved Monster has been neglected & ignored ever since a bought a Trackbike (s).
I use to tell everyone that that my Monster was the "funnest" bike that I ever had. Now I have to say that - My Monster is the "funnest Street bike" that I have ever had.
Thats all I can say.  :)

Thanks for the warning. I've had that fear for years and have held out, so far.

To add to that, I'd say don't take a supermotard to the track. You instantly think of parting out the Monster.

Spidey

I definitely rode my monster a lot less when I was going to the track every weekend.  But it didn't make me love it any less.  And that shouldn't stop you from getting a trackbike to prevent your monster from becoming a beat-up track slut.  If you only hit the track once a month, don't worry about it.  Your monster will still get plenty o' love.  You're right though -- > any bike you put on the track is your "funnest" bike.

So, you are saying the Monster is a gateway drug? Gateway to the track?

Yes.... it is....  ;D

Side note... most of the racers I know say they wont ride on the streets any more, cause the streets are so much less safe for the type of riding you start to enjoy while on the track.... its so hard to go back to safe and legal street riding.

That is the truth. I cannot ride on the streets, Hyways, or backroads without seriously breaking the speed limit. My licence is taking a shit kicking again. The Monster is meant to be riden hard. But, I wont take my precious baby to the track. She aint gonna become a "track slut" lol. So, for the last couple months. My baby has been neglected. I have been gettingup to  2 track nights a week, & the occasional Sunday track day. Dam, I am Addicted to "track".

So, you are saying the Monster is a gateway drug? Gateway to the track?

Yes, it sure was. BEWARE  :)

I can hardley wait till next Yr. We only have one more full track day, & the racing season is only one race away from being finnished. & I am going to miss both. Why am I being punished ?  :'(

I live at least 2 hours from a track and I don't have a trailer or a way to pull it . I understand what happens to people who go to the track.

Therefore I ride the country roads somewhere between faster than the speed limits and track speeds.

I try to get my kicks through agressive but careful riding.

I usually ride from 100-150 miles at a clip and that allows me to ride all types of roads at all types of speeds.

I'm not going to the track and I will learn how to enjoy my S4Rs and my 1098 R my way.   Dolph

My Monster became badly neglected, and subsequently sold, shortly after I got my Daytona...

Or................Track your Monster on the track as I and many here have and then you get the best of both worlds ;)  I just sold my track bike after running almost 3 years of track time on it.  It is a blast to go to the track.  It gets expensive especially as you get faster.  I know, I know, nobody wants to crash their Monster, me included.  But, the risk is not that high on the track as opposed to the street.  Street riding to me is about having fun and meeting up with the buddies and socializing.  That's where the fun is for me.  I will take my Monster occasionally to the track to get my fix!  I still love my Monster even after cheating on her with a Gixxer.

A track night consists of 4 Hrs of riding. 5 - 9 pm. We usually get 6 - 8 sessions. depending on if the ambulance has to take anybody off to the hospital or not. It costs $75 for a night. $ 125 for a full track day. Not alot more then a round of Golf on a good course.

Or................Track your Monster

I just couldnt do it to the one I have. Could I borrow yours  [evil]  :) . Mine isnt a tracker. Mine is a Hooligan/steet bike. Kinda like what U say. Get together with a gang. Go BS someplace with a bunch of other riders.
I still do that but, it isnt as much fun as it use to be. Maybe I have finally started to grow up (I hope not)

Dont ditch your Monster, I wont. But if U have a local track around. Go play on there with a 1500 - $3000 trackbike. I dont think that anyone would regret it.

"Squeak"  & a few other Monster owners on here have the right idea. Buy a used SV650. It looks like a fun class to run in if U ever start racing.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.
