i recently got an offer from a local custom bike painter that wants to get his name out, and he offered to paint my bike for me for basically nothing.  i will be keeping the zebra stripes, but i also want to put a decal on it that has the ducati name in it somewhere.  i have found four different decals that i like but i cant decide on the one that will look best.  i will be putting them on the tank where the original logos are.

old style, but using red instead of the white shown

meccanica

d-wing

moto ducati

if you know of anything else that is an older ducati designs that would look good, even an emblem thats like one of those decals, please post it up.

and a pic of the bike.

the bike is a little different from the second pic, it now has the clipons shown in the first pic.

d-wing would be lost in the paint. So would the old style. I voted door #4

I would go with the moto ducati. That's what I'm going with on mine. [bacon] [bacon] [bacon] [bacon] [bacon] [bacon] [roll]

You can get a "free" paint job and decide to KEEP those zebra stripes ??  [bang]

At least, have a look at the bikes of the DMF for inspiration before deciding (IMO)

Old style because it would blend and be so subtle.

ive thought about doing something different many times, but so many people have come into my shop and said they saw the bike in town and loved it.  the zebra stripes have been on there for 3 years and i just couldnt see it any other way.

i did think about solid white and doing the graphic the old style in red and then the wheels and possibly frame in green as my version of a tricolor, and ive thought about white with a red frame and wheels, but for some reason i feel that i would be lost without the zebra stripes.

i may still decide on something else, but i just dont know what.  the bike was black when i bought it, and i would prefer not to do anything that is a factory color.

whidbeymonster

keep the stripes, i think they are sweet. different. anyway definately number 4.

I know this is of no help to you, but IMO I don't really like any of the choices shown.
If your buddy's trying to get his name out, maybe ask him to come up with something that flows w/the bikes existing paint?

+1 for black fill with white stroke
did you do the stripes yourself? I like it! In fact, maybe I'll do my own paintjob on my old beater...you wouldn't mind if I copied your idea, would you?  ;D

i do like the black fill with white stripes alot.  that would probably work better than red, but finding someone that makes that sticker will be hard, but ill make it happen if i decide to do that.

and monsterlove,  i did the stripes myself and i dont care if you copy me.  its just spray paint and i taped off one side and did the other.   the only problem with the spray paint is that it will fade over time if its out in the sun.

Sorry I haven't been here in ages-cool thanks. I have an airbrush so it might be a little more accurate than a spray paint can...first I need to sand down a big dent I have...but I think I definately will consider doing my own paint job...*rubs hands together in glee* heh heh heh
