A big headline for a small group!

Later today, myself, Goldenchild, Cru Jones and Dizzle will be heading out on a 7 day road trip through the following states:

New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky.

Since I sold my bike this summer, I'm going to be driving the AlimonyMobile(tm) - a 2007 Ford Fusion - and acting as Team Support!  The three riders will be riding approximately 2,400 miles in 7 days.

The following roads are on the agenda:

Tail of the Dragon
Cherohala Skyway
The Snake
...and a few dozen other state roads that look just RIDICULOUS on a map.

Check back here as I'll be posting ride reports, pictures and video of the trip.  I'll be making time-lapse movies of some parts, and Cru will be recording video from his bike as well.

The original goal was to go to the Indy GP race...  This seemed more ambitious!!

Later!

Check out Hwy 28 south of the Dragon and Natahalla River goes all the way into N. Georgia and onto "The Warwoman Dell Rd. (a few miles before S.C.) over to Clayton, Ga. then onto Hwy 76 back to whatever point North you are heading.  I've never counted the turns in the GA. section of 28 south out of Highlands, NC, but I like is as well as the Dragon easily.

Also take a look at Hwy. 178 that goes through Rosman, NC and up Hwy 215 to the Blue Ridge parkway.  There's a hundreds more. ;D

Down here is MC Nirvana. [moto]   Ya'll can come, but don't tell anybody else.

New Clip!

From the YouTube description...

This is the second half of route 421 in Tennessee - aka, The Snake.

New Rule - if a road has a nickname - obey all speed limits and traffic regulations. Want some reasons why I say this?

Watch this video!

...and then ask GC about his afternoon as it appears on video!!

Oh man!  He's lucky all he got was a ticket.  Looks like you guys are having a lot of fun.  Be safe out there, enjoy the twisties and keep the video coming.  And please remember, as my friend Stuart is fond of saying: The double yellow line is not a force field.

Rock on!
Inara: (pissed) "What did I say to you about barging into my shuttle?"

Mal: "That it was manly and impulsive?"

Inara: "Yes, precisely. Only the exact phrase I used was 'don't'."

I will be posting some awesome pictures in the next few days.

As I said earlier in this thread - We have a new rule - if a road has a nickname ("Tail of the Dragon", "The Snake", etc...) AVOID IT!!!

The Dragon SUCKED.  First the guys followed a cop for 2 miles at 22mph, the cop then pulled over, let them pass, and then pulled out behind them.

They didn't so much "slay the Dragon" as they did give it a hand-job... [roll] [roll] [roll]

Enforcement has been very heavy on the Deal's Gap.  There's lots of other roads like 116 and the "Devil's Triangle" that are near Deal's Gap ~

Th HWY 28 stuff  is out of Wikipedia. If you're up by the Dragon, 129 you should consider coming south on 28. No cops and curvey as hell for a long long way.  Lunch or dinner in Highlands, NC. Look for Warwoman Rd. south of Highlands down at the end just before the SC/Ga. line. North Ga. is full of great roads. Two Wheels Only camp ground for motorcycles with great roads around there.  TWO in Suches, Georgia.

NC 28 starts at the Georgia state line in Macon County. Southward the road continues as Georgia 28. This is the sole state highway that keeps its exact number as it crosses between Georgia and North Carolina. (NC 60 may also be considered to sort-of keep its route. It continues in Georgia as Spur 60. Mainline Georgia 60 meets the state line some miles to the west).

From the state line, it follows a winding course northwards to Highlands, NC. There it begins a 14 mile concurrency with US 64 on the way west to Franklin. From Franklin it leaves US 64 and travels north/northwest, mostly following the Little Tennessee River valley. There is a 3 mile concurrency with US 74 between the unincorporated communities of Lauada and Needmore. From Needmore, it follows a westerly course along the southern shore of man-made Fontana Lake. A side road crosses the TVA constructed Fontana Dam; NC 28 skirts the southern boundary of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park before reaching its northern terminus at US 129.

Here we go...

This is it.

From my YouTube Description:
"We rode this route twice.

It is possibly the most insane piece of road on the east coast. I will not reveal where it is for everyone's safety. In part 2 of this video, you will briefly see a van parked in the apex of a turn.

There are three riders in this video - the leader (GC), the video taker (Cru) and Dizzle is in third. Dizz lowsided right in front of the people with the van.

In the first part you can barely see me behind a guardrail taking pictures. In the second part, my little black family sedan gets schooled by my friends' bikes! "
