So i got a mint 06 s2r... yay for me.
anyway it had very few miles on it when i picked it up from the PO (3,500) and everything looking mint.
I put 2K on it in a month and a half and seeing is how ive never had anything so new and nice im perinoid.
My last Monster was a filthy mess and i didnt really care but.... here we go...

I thought it was road grime because i ride in the rain but it is on there... like really on there... almost like the paint is burnt looking.

Yep, burned paint. 

That happened with my old 695 and I had to get it media blasted to get it off. DNA covered it under warranty for me but I'm not sure if you could do that...

I ride 80 miles round trip a day for work...
I never really play because im in rush hour traffic. My speed never really going over 85mph and never under 55mph.
I have never seen the bike go over 245 degrees.
I use whatever gas I can get... sometimes in jacksonville the bags are on 2 of 3 pumps limiting my choice.
Is this what i get for good behavior???

My bike had that too when I got it.  DNA replaced the cylinder heads under warranty (at a cost of over $4000!), but I couldn't get them to do anything about the bike running hot (i.e. lean).  So now it's a few hundred miles later and the heads are turning brown again. 

I'm idling right at 1050ish.... too low?
220-245 too hot?

Im a mechanic but this is my first F.I. monster.

My S2R had that same problem but not as bad.  I realized that there was a SLIGHT oil leak so I tightened up the valve cover and the leak went away and hopefully so did the problem.  Hot oil can do really bad things to the finish.

Looks like some kind of clear protective coating.  Most likely to keep the aluminum form corroding, might require some abraisive solution to get it off.  Problem is, air cooled engines run hot, my 02 620 ie has reached as high as 252*F and usually stays around 220~240*F and the 620 doesn't even have an oil cooler.  The F.I. motors run more efficiently due to the precise fuel metering which also makes them run hotter.  The upside of this however is fewer engine deposits and better fuel economy.  I run 87 octane gas in mine all the time and have no issues although the S2R may have higher compression so its best to check.
