What happend on the drops?
ratchet strap mis-hap (before we left DFW), loose gravel and front brake (lost the shifter in the first 100 miles and she still rode faster than I could......watch out for this one @ Oct track day, my guess is a few people will be lapped), and Oh shit that person in front isn't moving......stoppie gone wrong??

Things I learned on the Arkansas trip:
1. never attempt to tighten a ratchet strap on a 1098 while not having someone hold it.
2. lots of things about slag that I can't repeat here
3. Charles really can't hear me
4. license plates are dangerous
5. My wife has twice the skill level as me  [bang]
6. take advantage of filling up everytime you pull into a gas station
7. some towns don't have gas stations
8. If you pass a state trooper while speeding and don't pull over even though you don't see his lights before you go around the next corner, you are evading  [roll]
9. 29 mph over costs $180
10. When you hand a officer your insurance card and he reads (out loud) 2007 Ducati, he will then ask you...."is this one of those new models?"  How do you answer that with a straight face?
11. Flavor Flav has a twin brother working at the Holiday Inn Russellville
12. I think Slag actually practiced how to squeal like a pig prior to our trip
13. Cruisers are not dirt bikes
14. Brian can carve corners better on a Busa with bags than I can on a 1098
15. Patrick can ride in a completely upright position and never flinch, move around or tuck, and has better lines and speed in the corners than me
16. A free breakfast costs 2 dollars (or $15 if you're an idiot)
17. I can say about 100 more things, but the biggest one is you all should have been there!

Which bike did Bonnie ride?  What are your impressions of the 1098 after the trip?

This is my first attempt at introducing myself (dosgatos) from the Burleson area.  I met four riders on Sun. the 14th on renfro (p smart, 1000, m600, 1098) and I have been trying to communicate on the old message board where noone is.  I cannot make this AK ride, but have Sundays off.  Give me info if you can if I am in the right place and if this is how I introduce myself.  Thanks in advance, Dosgatos.

Which bike did Bonnie ride?  What are your impressions of the 1098 after the trip?
She rode the PS as usual, that's pretty much her fav bike, and she handles it really well.  I'm not kidding when I say that if she wanted too, she could take off and leave me.  We would drop into a 35 mph twistie section at like 65-70 mph and I would find myself thinking, "man, I'm glad we're not doing 75!"  All the while, Bonnie's about to run into me b/c she's expecting me to power through quicker.  I was running brand new Pilot Power 2ct's and she had stock pir's (the not so sticky, stock tubed ones) and was better planted than me.
The 1098 is fast fast fast, but I find myself fighting it constantly in the corners.  Sometimes I'll go into a corner and feel like it wants dive in faster than I want, but other times I feel like I'm gonna drift off the road like it wont stick the corner, and I'm not even riding it at half of its capabilities.  I just really found myself struggling to keep up with Brian's Busa in the corners..........no bueno.  I need it to have new springs, and for it to be set up for me and my weight.  Then I need to do a track day and get over the mental issues that I cant handle lower speed corners.  Then after all that, I need more skills and experience.  [thumbsup]

Good to see you made it over, That was me on the 1098 and Bonwilder on the PS.  Jim and Lyndy were on the SC1000 and M600.  We just got back from AR.......great roads!  You just missed a local Sunday run with Jim and Lyndy.  We will keep you posted for rides!  I'll send you a personal message if I don't see you posting on one of our Sunday ride threads  [thumbsup]  Also, every other Thursday, us "westies" and some east siders meet up for dinner at around 6:30-7:00.  Post up!  [moto]

Dosgatos,

Howdy!   I'm one of the four you met in Burleson.  It was me (Jim), Lyndy, Bonnie, and Tommy.

I tried to email you this weekend but the address that I wrote down bounced back.  I guess I messed up!  Nevertheless, it's good to see you here.  I'll send you a PM to get your correct email address.  Some of us rode this Sunday and I was trying to invite you along.  We may do it again next Sunday.

Tommy, sounds like a suspension set up would benefit you a lot.

RT forks and TTX shock?
no.....just gonna replace stock springs for a beefier setup
I figure I'm right around 265 +/-  5 lbs fully geared
RichD gave me a contact for a guy in Asheville, NC and he quoted me like $225 for the the new springs for my bike.  I just need to buy them and pay someone to install them and set it up for me  :P
