Short Rider FAQ

I was thinking we should create a Short Rider FAQ.

Since we get these question fairly often. I was thinking it would cover Gear such as boots that add extra height, Mods like after market seats and lowering suspension and perhaps even riding techniques for the vertically challenged like myself.

We can even talk about Short Rider friendly Bikes.

I have no clue what area of the forum it should go under since it will cover many different areas. Maybe simply under FAQs =)

What do you guys think?

You could call it "the Napolean thread..how to conqure tall bikes "

I would guess it belongs in the how to section

Great idea.  I'm not sure it should be, since it encompasses "Riding technique", "Gear" and "Accessories and Mods".  Child board, maybe?

Along with typical seat height for the various styles of Monster ~

oh yeah.  how to balance your bike with one leg, how to start uphill from that position, how to manuever when parking, all that stuff.  if you learn to ride from tall people, they'll just look confused and say "i think you should lower your bike."  [roll]

My 5'4" fiancée can flat one foot & ball the other foot on my '99 M750, and it's a bit taller than stock, but not much ~

I had to lower my wife's Ninja 250 by about 3 inches for her to flat foot it. I feel like I am reclining in an easy chair sitting on that bike... plus the breather hose drags now.  ;D

A short rider FAQ is a great idea. I can contribute a few tips! Maybe it (or at least a link to it) should live in Monster Women, since the vast majority of really short riders are women.

Sounds good, I will start something in the Women's Forum (guys welcome to contribute).

Great idea!

Maybe in the "GEAR" section?
I have the most problems with gear [bang] as opposed to riding techniques, bikes, etc.

msincredible....Don't hide this thread on the women's board.   There are short guys too you know.

As silly as this first sounded to me I think it's a great idea.  I think it deserves it's own board.

I for one am getting tired of trying on protective clothing that protects my shins instead of my knees  ;D .

This is a great idea.  It would be generous to say that my wife is 5'4".  I have lowered both her SV650 and her DR650.  But there
are other challenges to being a vertically challenged rider.  Like getting clothing that fits.  It seems the world is set against the
shorter rider.  I know a few women that ride cruises because they think that those are the only bikes that fit them  [puke]

Short people need speed too [thumbsup]

If we can agree on where to put it, I'm agreeable to moving it somewhere else.  I just know that we get many more questions about it in the women's board than anywhere else.

Where should it go?  The How-To section?

BTW I took the included shin/knee armor out of my textile pants and replaced it with kid-size dirt-bike armor, fits great. [thumbsup]

The How-To section would work.  But if it goes there it should probably be stickied so it doesn't get buried.  Or maybe ROBsS4R has the idea.  How about an FAQ board?

I dunno.  I'm just a pee-on around here. ;D
