 I prefer this version of the new Monster than the 696 model, With the big clunky swing arm removed and a SSS in it's place and the better wheels, this version looks much better.

If I was in the market to replace my S2R, this 1100 model would be on the radar.

But those passenger foot peg mounts would be machined off within hours of picking up the bike, such a boring part of the bike and Ducati has made it such a visually dominant part, at least paint them black!

The pearl white 1100s would be good 

anyone what to buy a black m1000s? It's a classic!

The headlight is still ugly.
The rearsets suck.
The false tank things still look like a toy.
The exhaust still looks like foldger cans handing out the ass.

Yup, even with a SSS and a big motor -- it still looks like shit.

The new design is growing on me.

Like cancer. Or gangrene. 

I'm starting to warm up to it. Air cooled, dry clutch, radial brakes, and Ohlins suspension are definitely plusses.

As per my comments in the 1100 spy photo thread... after 36 hours with the 696, I think it's not going to be a bad bike. The ergos just make the beast with two backsing suck for me, thus, it's off my list. What they've changed (SSSA, wheels, suspension if you go the 1100S) won't fix the ergos, so...

let's wait for the ron  to chime in

Got an email from Ducati about the bike this morning...

I really expected a different exhaust and something different in the paint scheme.  At a glance (especially from the left side) it looks just like a 696...unlike the S*R, which looks radically different from the 695.

I've just joined the Monster family, so haven't heard all the rumblings...is there any talk of a Monster "above" the 1100?

I'll keep my '03 1k 

Ducati could have done better.
