Speak for yourself.

I'm flat out affording even the cheapest leathers.  [roll]

should have explained my case, i dont have leathers. wish i did, but i do have fabric armor jacket and pants, boots, decent helmet and gloves. did i go cheap. yes, but with CE approved armor, DOT helmet and boots with hard protectors.

what i meant by most... well some of the guys on here have 2 or 3 bikes or more, one i saw has a beautiful porsche in the garage with his bike... so ducati tends to be a more affluent buyer. not all, but more.

whereas the japanese crowd, tends to draw the bargain, let's get more HP than we need but can afford it crowd and then dont have the cash flow or knowledge to buy protective stuff, let alone wear it.

i live in oklahoma. and i generalized a bit, but i see 1 out of 50 riders maybe wearing helmets. most not wearing armor. only guys riding onto the military base wear the gear because it's required. even then it's just long sleeve pants and shirts, not armor.

+1 to super tib. im super broke and i wish i could afford leather bottoms. I keep budgeting to buy shit like PCIII, or a slave clutch, but somehow that spare $400 i have sitting around ends up going to bills.

I want a 1pc leather. im waiting for the celtic suit to go on sale @ sportbike track gear for the next season.

I'm thinking I will have to go hunting and shoot me some kangaroos.

How many roo's would I need to make a one or two piece suit. To keep costs down, I will tell the tannery to only treat the inside of the skin and leave the fur on.  ;)

used to have a kangaroo pelt in the house as a kid. kinda wierd fur, soft in one direction, prickly in the other. wonder how'd that feel if it were on the inside of the suit  [roll]

Is it a Ducatisti thing? Most Duc riders I see wear full leathers when riding. .............

Possible reasons :
1. Ducatistis have more money or richer
2. Rich Ducatistis usually has a softer skin, therefore needs more protection

Just shoot one bigger than you, empty out the insides, and wear it. You won't even need a tankbag if you keep the little pouch.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

All the MotoGP riders use kangaroo skin for their suits.

Derby could confirm?

I wear jeans around town and jeans when I hit the canyons.  I have leather pants and a full leather suit.  I have been thinking about getting a set of mesh pants for the local canyons, still thinking.  I don't wear full leathers 100% of the time, I just don't.

Totally off topic, but how exactly is that weird?

The vast majority of animals have hair that grows like that.

That's why snakes swallow their prey head first.

I am embarassed to say that I use Dragin Kevlar Jeans with Armor.

All my other gear is top notch though.

I really need to invest in something better for my pants.

well i guess, mind you i didn't really get to play outside with animals much as a kid. mom was a bit protective  [bang]

I dunno, it takes about the same time to warm my bike up as it does to full gear on..

I wear Draggins, Leather jacket, boots and gloves if I'm just going to work or commuting. Add leather pants and back protector if I know there will be spirited riding involved..

No need to be embarassed. I wear the same or lesser pants if I'm going to a restaurant or to a cafe. I don't like walking into a place looking like a leather-clad power ranger.

As to those looking for leathers, a nice option is a two-piece suit. The jacket and pants zip together (race legal), but it leaves you the option to wear the jacket only.

Hey, that Buell was probably the most fun motorcycle I've ever owned! Once the suspension was set, it handled like an absolute dream! With some simple mods, that thing was pushing 102 hp at the rear wheels and over 85 ft/lbs of torque. I never had the fear of crashing it either because all of the components were cheap to replace and easily protected by a few crash pucks and bobbins. No maintenance either with the exception of oil/filter/brakes, that's it! Due to the low RPMs, that motor will go 100,000 miles easy. Do I wish I still had that vs. my current S4R? Sometimes, yes (when I think about the cost and time of maintenance especially), but I'd like to have both.
