Hi,

I have moved here from London and have bought a 696.  I would like so advice on what documents etc i should carry when riding.

I guess driving license and insurance are needed but I would not normally carry them in the UK. Are there any others?

What about on the bike?  I removed the inspection tag from under the plate, is it okay to do this or should it be mounted? I also removed all of the silver stickers from the frame, is this okay?

Thanks in advanced

Welcome to the States and to the Board.  [thumbsup]

The inspection sticker should be facing the rear of the bike, near the plate, so it is visible to LEO. The frame stickers should be fine pulled. I am not aware of this being an issue, but someone will chime in, I'm sure.

Hope to meet you soon.  ;D

they will usually verify the VIN on the frame, to match your insurance card.  The law is to have the sticker facing the rear so it can be visible, but none of my bikes are, and I've been pulled, too many times.  The  [leo] just ask where it is, I pull the seat to show them, and they go about writing me a speeding ticket.  It never seemed to bother any of them as to where it was located, but legally, visible from the rear.  That's it though, liscense, insurance and registration inspection (thanks stick man [thumbsup] ).....

They do not ask for registration. License and insurance, that is it.

Don't mindy Tommy (Clyde or whatever his screen name changes to), his humor doesn't translate well to text if you don't know him.

Merely stating that I have never been out of the country, but I cant get a TX drivers license because I don't have my birth certificate from my home state.  Please pardon the slang terminology earlier, i should wait another day or two before calling you a fu*ker  [cheeky] It was just a figure of speech. sincerely though, welcome to the group, you will not find a friendlier more diverse group of people who will do anything for each other  [thumbsup]  and once you've made your first post, you're in the group

The best way to introduce yourself to us is to make the Muenster ride this weekend!! [thumbsup] [moto] You will be in awe of the beautiful mountain views and awesome twisting curvy roads in north Texas. OK, that's complete bullshit. [laugh] But not the part about making the ride. No English fare in Muenster... just German food. I assume you hold no grudges about that whole Battle of Britain thing where the Gerries firebombed the hell out of London. :P Oh yeah, welcome to the group. Good folks, you'll see. Warped senses of humor but still good folks. [laugh]
