Am I too tall for a Monster 620?

Hello all, I'm 6'2 and considering a 620, just trying to see if there are other taller riders out there......I really like the way the bike looks, and it seems to fit ok, but I'm curious to hear from those who've actually spent time on one.

Thanks in advance!

I'm 6'2"..... people say I look a lil too big for my m750
Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar kicked me out of the band..... they said I didnt fit the image they were trying to project.

So I went solo.  -Me

Some people call 911..... some people are 911

I'm 6'1" and I rode a 620. As long as you don't try to use frame sliders as highway bars, you should be okay.

The only issue I can think of that you might run into is the foot peg placement. I always seemed to have the heel of my boot on the peg, but I think that was mostly just inexperience.

And yeah, you might look a little top-heavy, but from the saddle you'll never know any different.  [thumbsup]

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

I'm on a S2R (same size frame?) and at 6'4" I'm fine. IMO I don't look too big on the bike either.

A few things done to make the ergonomics better though:
   adjustable foot peg carriers http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/MFW-1/Accessories/MFW-1.html
   handle bar risers - a few brands available (GenMar, + +) - I have SpeedyMoto 20mm

I also believe you can fit a seat from my kind of bike, an inch higher, on your bike.

You should research each item, here and Google, to make sure it will fit your bike. I have been wrong before, but I mean well ;)

I am 6'4" and have owned an '01 S4, and now an '02 Foggy. The Foggy is a little taller than the '01 S4. But yes, I am a little tall for both bikes.

But...
I DON'T CARE!
:)

The advantage is that I am in an even more upright position on the bars. Great for slower speeds.
The disadvantage is... I am in an even more upright position on the bars. Gets bumpy over about 75 mph and too upright for tight turns, so I have to do mini-pushups all the time. I might get some lower clipons down the road. Plus, my long legs get pretty cramped when riding more than an hour or so.

Did I mention I don't care?  I love pain!  8)

The only size difference between the "little" Monsters (600/620/695) and their big brothers, is the seat and the suspension settings.  The seat has thinner padding or a deeper scoop, or both, to help the stand-over.  The rear suspension has a bit shorter link, which can be readily swapped for a longer, or adjustable, one.  The front forks are slid up in the triples a little.   [thumbsup]

So basically, it's lower, but not smaller.  AND, it's very easy to make taller.   [beer]

I had similar concerns about a 696...
I'm about 6'1" or 6'2" and it seems like it would be pretty small, and just look odd.  I don't want to get a Ducati just to end up looking like a complete doofus when I'm riding around. :P

How easy are these to adjust and make higher?
Speed is always relative.

Good question.  I'm not sure anyone here knows yet, as the big brother of the 696 isn't in our hands yet.  It doesn't have a rear link (does it?) so that may make raising it tougher.

I'm also 6'2" and currently about 225lb. I was riding my 696 and I caught a glance at a large store front window just as I was passing and I looked like a big gorilla riding a moped. I don't care, its just part of life as a bigger person. mod it to suit your needs.

Get your bike and start enjoying it!

Well I bought the bike this morning!!!!

ridden a few miles on it, yeah I looked in a few mirrors and it did look a tad small but I'm loving the ride!!

definitely going to be looking to raise it up a few inches if possible, can anyone guide me in the right direction of how to get this done?

Thanks again!!

will post pics later

Congrats  [thumbsup] - and welcome!

As far as I know there are ways to raise the rear, but the angle of the fork (rake) will be steeper and it will cause the bike to turn easier, more nervous - to some that's fine - for others it might be.... just nervous. Better to find a used seat with added height in it?
The added front height can be achieved with bar risers. IMO the front fairing makes the bike look bigger compared to the rider.

You could post in "accessories & mods" asking for example "raising 620 (model year) - suspension, seat, risers?"

Good luck, ride safe and enjoy [moto]

Start with a Sargent seat. It raised me up another inch or so. The ride height rod is not adjustable on the 620, but it's easily replaced.

I bought my monster from a guy who was 6'4". He wanted a Strada for more comfortable riding position, but I didn't think he looked funny on it. I'm 6'2" and I don't think I look funny on the bike either.

I think this is one of those things that we notice, but most folks don't. If your 6'8" riding a harley sporter 883, then yeah, you gonna look a bit funny. But if your that tall your going to look funny on most any bike accept a huge cruiser of some kind. Who cares?

No ones looking at you sport! They're looking at that wicked bike your riding. Congrats!
