i rather total it and start fresh. Depending on how much a by back was, you could almost build a 2nd S4Rs and sell it.

It's gonna be totaled. The parts alone come to over 10 grand. The list would include a new tank, a new radiator, new fan, new front (ohlins) forks,(they arent bent but the bottom of one side is scratced badly),new right side hand controls, and new front fender...oh yeah a new frame. I've had alot of bad luck with this machine and am prepared to write it off and get a new bike this spring. I'm not sure what will be available in 09 but looks like I will find out. The parts tab didn't even include labor which would be 20-25 hours worth.

The only worry is how much the insurance co. will give. The bike is only 6 months old and retails for $15,500. Progressive will also pay me dollar for dollar on accesories so my full Termi kit would be covered. I hope to at leqst break even.

I know some people would do it differently but I'm not a mechanic and I'm not rich. If it was in my means to buy it from the insurance co. and fix it as cheaply as I could I would do it. I can't I financed the bike and didn't put a whole lot down on it either. I'm hoping with my down payment and 6 months of payments added to the 3,000 in accesory money I will break even.

Anyone know what the adjusted cash value on an 08 S4RS is ?

Something to think about is buying the bike back and parting it out. You could probably make some good money off the deal. I'm sure somebody would even buy those scratched Ohlins. I know I'd be interested in the rear shock  ;D The motor would be worth quite a bit either as a complete item or parted out.

+1. Check for going prices of the stuff you know you'll be able to sell (engine, suspension components, etc). See what buyback is. You may do okay on the deal.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

Id be intrested in the rear shock and tank....ask them how much it would cost for a buy back.
