Hey Chris. So, I am the kind of guy that can look in the refrigerator and not see the catsup sitting right in front of my eyes (so my wife says).
I see the flyer and registration form, but is there information on where you ride, what's involved, etc? I am new to the area and haven't seen this event before, so I would like more information if possible.

Cheers,
Bryan...

HI Bryan,
Generally what everyone does is arrive before noon on Friday (we have regulars that come down from Canada every year!). This is basically a travel day, but you can meet up  with other like minded riders arriving at the hotel and go off and ride in the afternoons. For Friday ride, I might suggest you head to TWO (two wheels only) in Suches about half hour away on some great roads, you can pick up a small map they sell for 50 cents which will show you some roads tho you can't pick a bad road in the area. Nice roads are 75, 348, 180, 76. Just be back at the hotel by 6 hang out, eat the pizza included with the registration. Meet and talk bikes. Registration opens at 6pm friday, you get your t-shirt, route map, door prize ticket and ticket to the saturday dinner. The Saturday route is comprised of two legs (combined total is around 250-300 mies), a morning route to a designated restauarant, then an afternoon route, you can mix and match or ride other roads in the area as well. Generally everyone travels in groups of 4-6 riders each. You'll be very welcomed to the event, talk and meet various people friday and work up someone to ride with for Saturday.

Ride all day on some awesome roads then head back to the hotel for the banquet, and door prizes, you will win something and some of the door prizes are incredible. last year a high dollar ducati leather jacket was top prize the year before was a tailpiece off a race world/ama superbike autographed by the rider!

My wife and I willbe there, again. This will be our third DFS rally. I'll be on the silver ST2 and she'll be on her '01 M900 "Disco Duck" with the funky paint on the tank. She's finally be on a Ducati instead of either the red/white R1 or her old silver/pink GSXR.

Anybody who can make it down will enjoy the weekend - weather permitting. If you don't like riding with a bunch of people and wander off on your own you can't go wrong so far a picking a good road. Just keep track of where lunch is being served and head there on your own. After living and riding literally all over this contry I still feel this part of the country has the very best riding.

Like was said about the Two Wheels Only campground, that is a good place and great area to ride. North Ga. as well a Western NC have some of the best riding in the world and law enforcment is pretty tame ususlly.

Mayabe see you there. I usually go for at least Fri. night and for part if not all of the Sat. ride. [moto]

Just back from ducs fly south, incredible roads, great people and weather.

Desmo demon and wife were there, sorry about the shifter issue that kept you from getting much riding in.

I was there on my tuono, but a nice selection of monsters to be seen.

About 60 or so riders in all.

I am bummed but I just couldn't make it this year. Hopefully, it will be back next year. If so, I'm in!

We stayed at the Hotel Fri. night. Weekends just don't come any better that this past weekend - not anywhere.  North Ga. is just about as close to Nirvana as it gets this time of year, both from a moto or environmental standpoint.  A good ride over to the the KTM factory test ride expo at Two Wheels Only on Sat. morning early in the crisp October air on Hwy 180 was absolutely beautiful. And good ole George (yes the Scottish Woods George B.) showed us some really good roads around his neck of the woods.  The weekend just couldn't have been any better.

There was no high test gas, but I did run into some very good Black, Russian Imperial Stout at ABV: 9% too - so there was high test in the tail pack.

Pretty much all the gas stations only had 87 octane, but it seemed to run fine, just like everybody here allways said it should. [thumbsup]

It was a sort of small turn out compared to recent past rides, due to the gas thing I think.  Those who didn't make it should really try to get down this way next year.  Weekends like this past make life worth living. [clap] [clap] [clap]

I'm totally in for next year -- post up dates as soon as you get them, and maybe a reminder a little further out than 2 weeks!

Heard someone dropped one of the KTM RC8's at TWO? Wasn't one of the Duc guys getting jelous was it ;)

I didn't hear about the RC8 drop, but an ambulance and several LEO's screamed by and we thought, oh no somebody must have laid a bike down. A few minutes later we noticed that the EMT's and cops were just a couple of hundred yards down the road and a helicopter was setting down. Never found out what the cause was, but it was just down the road from the event and Two Wheels Only's driveway.

Anybody know what happened?

Yeah, guy was trying to pass (over the double yellow) a truck who was making a left turn.

Bad move on his part, but he'll never regret it, killed him. His family will though..

DFS is always first weekend in Oct. but I'll be sure to post up in advance more next year. Also be aware they have an identical event in Mt. Airy NC every may called ducs along the blue ridge, Mt. Airy is on the N. Carolina VA border and is always a blast.

Their was a fatal accident saturday 100 yards down from TWO on 60, R1 rider killed apparently passing on the double yellow, truck he was passing turned left and rider hit the truck.

Say, it's worth joining US Desmo as you get a quarterly color magazine as well as discounts on all track and riding events. They're planning a track day at Barber in 09.
