+1 for the gel seat it's worth every penny. Just be prepared to ride around on molten lava if you leave your bike in the sun  :-\ that gel soaks up heat, and doesn't let it go for a while. Easliy avoided by putting something like a t-shirt or a towell over it.

I have the DP gel seat as well, and am very happy with it.  One thing though!  Yes it soaks up heat if left in the sun, but if you leave your DP gel seat in the air conditioned house and then pop it on the bike before a ride in the summertime, it also holds some of that cool for a while too!  I have the cowl on my DP seat for one up, and swap out my stocker for 2 up riding and noticed one day how cool the DP seat was after I had left it in the house all night.   [moto]

+1 on the material being more grippy too.  Just a side note:  The DP seat does weigh more if it matters at all.

I've tried both - cdc and I traded seats for a while.  So he can give his two cents when he is back in town (we miss you Charles)  ;D
I like the DP seat the best because it's more narrow up front and I like the material it's made out of - it's    grippy. Also the groove for your rump is  a bit more defined which makes it easier to stay back in seat.  It is lower then the Sargeant(and stock) which may or may not be an issue for you.
The Sargeant is a nice seat -  taller then stock if you need some height.
You're welcome to try my seat before you buy.

+1 on ThelmaLou's comments. She was right the first time, it is a Sargent seat.  They come with a convenient cylindrical storage capsule and if memory serves me right fold out hooks for bungee cords to attach to.  Don't mind lending you the seat for a test ride but I am not in town at present.

Thanks.  I appreciate that.  If I don't buy the touring seat from Jeff today I would love a chance to sit on the seat, although it's a bit pricey but my bum is worth it.

+1 for a good seat...

If you have time, you might consider a custom seat. I had one made for my K1200rs. It's not gel so it doesn't heat up so much in the sun. It was made specifically for me- my height, weight, etc... & is super comfy.
I did Boulder to Dallas in 1 day, & wouldn't have made it on a stock seat...

I did the exact same thing, albeit from Durango to Dallas in one day but on my Roadstar.  I wouldn't even try the Duc on the same route in one day or I would need to be straightened back out by a surgeon.
I have looked into the custom gig but can't find reputable guys anymore.  For the price, I believe my bet is with Jeff at monster parts

The Ducati comfort seat is outstanding. My Monster rides were uncomfortable on the bum after only 150 miles with stock seat.  Once changed over to the comfort seat, my butt could handle any length ride.  Nice thing also is that it doesn't weigh a whole lot more than stock like a Sargent probably does.  I think I paid about $200 new a couple years.  Remember that the gel seats get hot if you park your bike in the sun.

I would prefer to order from them  [thumbsup].  They've been very nice and helpful with my current and previous Ducs.  The website though has no price....scares me

Be assured the price will be 5% over Ducati msrp ! FACT.

Sounds like all this backs up everything I have heard and read. The DP "comfy" seat is the cat's meow. [thumbsup] I might just have to get one myself. I have some Speedymoto handlebar riser clamps that I need to mount up. Maybe those and the DP seat will make the S2R1K more "Lazy-Boy" for me. I have never liked the bend of the stock bars... ever. But because they are thicker at the clamps points than normal it does make them hard to replace... and no, I do not want clips on. I believe I have enough bikes with those. :P That's the reason I got the Monster. It was to go in the other direction, as in standard style bikes. I'm thinking a minor "modding" will do the trick. [thumbsup]
