Hey folks!! I am not currently on two wheels but I have about 2 years of riding experience in the past (Honda Nighthawk 750) but it has fallen into a state of disrepair.  A friend of mine owned a Ducati and took me to Ducati Revs America 2001 in Vegas, awesome event!!! I fell in love with Ducati's right then and there, between the community, the rarity of the bikes, and the overall sexiness of style, I was hooked.  Saw a couple stunt riders on Monsters and as I like the naked bikes, this fit right into my wheel house.

So why am I here if I don't have a Duc? Well, found out last week that my wife is going to buy me my dream bike as a graduation present in the Spring, and that happens to be a Monster! Yes yes, I know, she's a keeper! I am smaller guy so I intend to get the 696, I have seen some posts where people don't like the styling, was wondering if there was anything in particular you folks didn't like? I am going to the dealership to tease myself some tomorrow and hope to see a 695 and 696 side by side to get a solid comparison.

Anyhow, I will probably be on these boards regularly as I am now ultra-obsessed with the monster knowing it is within my reach! Look forward to hearing from you guys (and gals)! Later all.

welcome to the board brickdogg.

there are several threads you can search regarding the differences between the old style monster (695) and the new style (696)
Never wrestle with pigs. You both get dirty, and the pigs like it...

Welcome to the DMF Brickdogg. The Ducati bug is a strong one, incurable I hear from all afflicted. You can put it at bay by owning one. But, it seems to always be there. I still get a s-eating grin on my face just thinking about my Duc. Enjoy the new life. [moto]
It`s not what you ride, it`s that you ride!

PS--I happen to like the 696.    ;D
Inara: (pissed) "What did I say to you about barging into my shuttle?"

Mal: "That it was manly and impulsive?"

Inara: "Yes, precisely. Only the exact phrase I used was 'don't'."

Awesome!!!
There are a few technical differences, but the big controversy seems to be the styling.
Good idea to check it out for yourself [thumbsup] Whichever you like better is the right choice ;)
