I took my rear hugger off and made a nylon cover for the shock.  Seems like a good idea, any reason why I wouldn't want to use something like this to keep grime off the shock?  Its made out of Cordura 1000, velcros around the shock and has elastic sewn into the ends.

seems to me moisture could get trapped in there. maybe if you used a rubber seal top and bottom.

but it looks cool, but what about the reset of the bike? the rear of the engine etc.

I thought about the moisture, the bungees in the ends of the cover are not so tight that water couldn't run out the bottom. I do very little wet weather riding anyway.  Nver thought about the backside of the engine, but it doesn't seem to be catching more debris than it would have with the hugger on.

can't you buy things like these for off road bikes  shox sox or something like that.

something breathable like goretex would eliminate moisture. Dont think moisture will be a problem tho.

I have some Gore-Tex, but it doesnt feel as durable.  Iactually consulted with an embroidery shop with a DP logo, an old school ducati logo, and even the boards logo.  They were willing to sew them up but were concerned about copyright issues.  Not the first time I have run into that issue.  My wife is an industrial trained seamstress and we have the materials and machines to turn out everything from wedding dresses to gun cases.  Seems everything I am interested in (Gun Cases, motorcycle covers, backpacks, tactical gear, custom tool rolls, etc) always require some sort of logo.  We've actually been toying with the idea of buying an embroidery machine.  I guess I could turn some out with the board logo on it if people were interested. 

I wonder if the same cover would work on everything from a Duc 695, right through the monsters, HM, to the Superbikes?

i would think its mostly for protection than looks. but if you are on the road, i woudlnt be worried taht much.

i think i would be more concerned with grit accumulating in there
unless you had a perfect seal....
look at all the sand and road grit on the motor, swingarm after youve gone a few days riding and not cleaning....
think id rather have it exposed and hugger....
imho....

16oz water bottle, split in half vertical, then zip tied together.  One dollar mod (depending on the brand of water)

You have nothing to worry about regarding the 'shock sock'. Traxxion sells 'em even.

If it is for personal use and not resale there should be no copyright issues.

The shock length is the only thing that really matters. The diameter is close enough on all of them I believe. Go to your local bike shop with a tape measure and you will get all you need to know in a few seconds.
