From what I have read up on so far the bikes that came to the US didnt have anything in the udder, where the Euro bikes had the mesh/catalyst deal-e-o in them.
I looked again into the udder on my bike and still cant see a thing..

just a question, did you buy used? maybe someone already emptied out the udder.

I would guess their is something in the udder on my bike.
I mean, their has to be becasue my bike is no where near as loud as most of the other Monsters that are ripping around the city with full/open systems on them.

The more I think of it the more I think I am going to buy a aftermarket header and make something offa it.

Did you not look at Capo's post below? That's what's in the udder and has been for years.  Cored stock pipes with a bypass header are louder and a much better sound than just the udder and flow much better. I went through all this on my old 04-S4R.

Or take the udder off cut down the weld seam with a die/pencil grinder, core it out like Capo did the one in the pic. and core your mufflers and then put it all back together. It will sound great and not be obnoxious.  You know like those straight piped POS Harley's that handle like crap are slow, but raise the dead loud. [bang] [bang] [bang]

Not sure what I am going to end up doing.
The issue is I want the bike to sound like say someone with a full open exhaust, but want the
rear wheel to be exposed as well. Prob. going to take the bike to my chasis shop buddy and have him make me up something funky/one off using the stock pipes (just remove the udder and use the stock pipes).
We shall see what I think up over the winter...

If you WANT loud, then you can remove the udder, get some aftermarket mid-pipes and weld some tips on them like.  I think Monstermash did something similar to his bike.

When I installed the QD midpipes on my bike I turned it on w/out the mufflers and OMG!  It sounded like a tank was in my garage, shit started shaking off the walls, spiders came out of the cracks, birds fell of their nests...
