My name is Hans and I brought home my first Ducati just yesterday, a 2001 Monster 750 with under 2K miles. (Sounds almost like a birth announcement...)
My other bikes are a 2004 Moto Guzzi Breva 750 and a 1995 Honda VFR 750 (hence the email monicker)

I started riding in 1953 (in Germany, before moving to the USA) and might be one of the "more mature" riders on the list.

I'm sure I will need advice from experienced Ducati riders. My immediate questions are about where to order oil and air filters; what are the most appropriate tires (the ones on the Monster look brand-new, but they are 7 years old = still safe?). Where to buy Givi hardware to support a top case (already in possession).

I look forward to getting to know my "new Italian girlfriend" and the gang on this list.

Saluti!

Hans

Welcome Hans, congrats on your Duc! [thumbsup]

I suspect you will get more input if you post up your specific questions in Tech (oil/filters/tires) and Gear (top case).

Good luck, have fun. :)

Hans, welcome! You will find a lot of local Ducati riders in the MADDOG section on this forum. A few of us might be meeting up tonight at Grumpy's downtown. We have a monthly Italian bike night but we are not meeting formally over the winter.
So go to the local forums section, and click on the MADDOG group. Minneapolis Area Ducati Owners Group.
Looking forward to meeting you!  [beer]

Howdy back! I saw your introduction on the list. Good luck on your hunt for the right Monster. I found mine on the Minneapolis Craigslist (Bike was also auctioned on ebay - winning bidder pooped out and I jumped in). It's my first Ducati after many other brands and I am just taking my first babysteps in getting to know the bike. Very different from others.
Good luck. Hope to see you on the road.
Hans
