After I totaled my Tricolore I waited for the pain to stop. It's still not all gone as I have some weird ruptured tendon in my thumb that just doesn't want to get better. My elbow and knee are pretty much good to go and my hand is no longer swollen and painfull. If my wife knew I was as banged up as i was I would have been in the hospital. As it was I rode my bent beauty home and found out a few days later it was a total loss. Bent frame and front end, dented tank, trashed radiator and scratches aplenty. Went through the whole insurance deal and after the no gap insurance blues I set to paying off the 2 grand I still owed...ouch. OK now for the good news. I got instant approval for a new bike because I married the right gal.

I wanted to see what the new Streetfighter looked like and I was not dissapointed. I would want the S version of course and it's pricey...yikes. Then I was foolish enough to start e-mailing my dealer. He has a Tricolore that is being used as a demo bike. It will be for sale pretty soon. It will be a demo and thus cheaper than list price. He said if I felt like it I could put a deposit on it for first dibs.My happy ass will be down there in a few days to do just that. I figure I'll drop 500 or so a month on it until it comes off it's demo for sale. If I play my cards right I might get 2 grand or so for a deposit and with the rest of the savings I'll add some nice accesories. My last one had the full system on it so I'll do that. I'd also like a nice PP and clutch cover, the comfortable seat and the shorty tail kit. Hell I may even go for the exhaust that comes with the cams. The last Tricolore I had was genuinly cursed. It ran like a scolded dog but every little bad luck thing could and did happen culminating in the wreck. i hope the next one will be different.

Please all the monster faithfull send me some good vibes. I loved the other one and wanted to get the last of the full framed monsters. With luck I will again. Since the wreck I've been riding the hell out of my Road King but when I twist the go handle it just gets louder. It's fun....but not as much. Thanks for reading. I'm going to clock out and go home now!!!

I would NEVER try to talk someone out of an S4RS!!! Good luck with this bike, I hope she treats you better than the last one did! FWIW, I still like the full trellis Monstahs better than these news ones, maybe I'll just need time to adjust. Good luck and let us know what happens!

You can find very (maybe very, very) good deals on a "regular" kitted USED S4RS.  I'm just a little wary of a demo because many of the demo riders my have been a little abusive.  Having said that, maybe the rev limiter will have taken care of that.

The tri-color is pregnant dogin, but personally cosmetics isn't a big deal to me, it's performance - red, white, or even better, black performs just as well.

Don't go for one without the full DP kit. [moto]

And don't be waste'n time at work on the inter web. ;D  I almost never do. [roll] [roll]

Here's how much I like the S4Rs. I bought one in May of '07 and fell so hard for it that I bought an identical twin a month later.

The 2nd one I bought was prepped and trailored to me and has 7 miles on it . I have mothballed it so if something happened to the 1st one I'd have a new S4Rs ready to go.

Since then I got a 1098R and now that's what I ride .

I'm sure I'll ride my #1 S4Rs some but I may sell my #2 .

I think I might like to get a Street Fighter S . I may have to sell the S4Rs and my '07 BMW K1200S which has I think about 2300 miles on it so as to not have to pay extra cashfor the new Ducati.

Before the " R " came along , the S4Rs was "THE" bike as far as I was concerned.

No matter what color scheme , the S4Rs is a " Classic " IMHO.

You can't go wrong w, a S4Rs .     Dolph

Replace the S4Rs with the S4Rs  I love mine  [bow_down] Why can't you reclycle the Termi you had on the first one?  AFAIK the S4Rs already has the cams upgrade

Hate you wrecked the first, but good to hear that you have a 2nd chance at a TriColor.

Is it not weird switching the riding positions between a Monster and a Harley?  Just curious.

DoubleEagle, I have no idea what you do for a living (and it really is none of my business), but I sure wish I would have gotten into the same thing.  It killed me to up the price on my S2R800 for the full Termi's.  I couldn't imagine going out and buying another bike the next month.

The insurance company gave me 3000 bucks for my accesories thus the full system belonged to them. I haven't seen the bike they are using as a demo. If it has cans I would still spring for the full system. It made mine very very cool. I'm going to put a deposit on it after I get back from my hunting trip next week. On a positive note CSX payed me for the rim their crappy crossing bent. Gave me the full amount of the repair...almost 700 bucks!!!

I have about 30,000 miles on the RoadKing so it's not that weird. What takes a little getting used to is the lack of go power. I mean it will cruise pretty well and has enough torque to smoke the rear tire but fast it aint!! It's pretty much the trip taker and it didn't even see any action in that regard until I crashed the Duc. I'm just waiting right now. If it doesn't turn out for me I'll be getting a used 07 or may just say frack it and get the Streetfighter S. After all in a few months I will have 0 car payments and the HD has been paid of for a while.

Sorry about your wreck and best of luck with the new one.

Not to be a downer, but have you seen a hand surgeon about that thumb? It may be functional now, but you don't want to have long-term loss of range of motion or weakness as a result of the issue. As a microsurgeon who broke 3 bones in my left hand from a high-side, I know that no one wants to have any surgery or anything done, and it may not be necessary, but I'd check.

The insurance co. wrote the finance company a check for  $16,900. That included all my accesories (they gave 3000, not the total of all my accesories but close) so with the tax ,accesories and all the other stuff added in that came to about 1900 less than I owed (bike was 6 months old). I have that down to about $1000 now. Lesson learned either a bigger down payment (which I could have done but the wife didn't want me to) or GAP insurance. Never bought GAP insurance before but I will next time.

I haven't seen a hand surgeon but had it checked out by the trauma surgeon in the ER at the hospital I work in. The hands fine (now) I just have a lump on the top of my thumb. It was sore enough and swollen enough that for the first 2 days I could barely strike a lighter. I was in enough pain in other places that I didn't think about it much. Now it's mostly pain free. If I knock it a good one it stings but overall it's OK. I also have near 100%strength in it. The ER doc said it wasn't broken per x ray (which I got a tech to do for me) but to check for ligament damage and such would require further tests. I'm damn near as tough as I am stupid so unless it flares up bad I think it will just go away on it's own.

As a micro surgeon don't you know that MC's are dangerous !!!

A big thumbs up for a new Tricolore!!!  I love mine and have the full system and CF shorty tail on it, among other things, and constantly get admiring comments on it.  It's one bike that absolutely puts a smile on my face every time I ride it.  I'll send out some good vibes for a safe, long and happy ownership of your Tricolore #2.  And as a Duc deler I can tell you our demos are typically in fantastic shape when we sell them so I wouldn't lose any sleep worrying that you're going to get a bike that's been beat.  Most people who demo a bike are quite aware that they're riding a bike they're unfamiliar with and tend to treat it with due respect.  I also frequently accompany our customers on their test rides so I can vouch for the fact that they're pretty tame affairs.  Plus you know your dealer will fully service that bike and present it to you in top-notch shape with a full factory warranty.  Their reputation is on the line so they'll be sure it's a good bike.  Congratulations and have a great time on your new Monster!
If it's got two wheels and a motor, I like it!
