At least you'll never do that again!  [thumbsup]

Yeah, probably not. Another Ducati lesson learned. Apparently I got lucky the first time.

Perhaps I could have a go?

What was the two hours labor for? Did they have to disassemble the hub for inspection and repair? You got lucky on only damaging the cheap pins. I was afraid you messed up your hub and even the wheel. Glad you're back on the road again!

Changed rear tire last night. Another hub pin is cracked after only 2500 miles. So much for lining up "pin 1." If the dealer can't do it then how can I be expected to? More likely there is something wrong with my hub and the "pin 1" thing is a line of bull crap on this bike.  >:(

In any case, screw it. I'm going to AR anyway.  [moto]

hmm... "pin 1"?  i didn't follow any such thing when i had my wheel off for the last tire change.  everything has seemed fine so far though.

On the S4Rs, there is no such thing as "Pin 1." However, that doesn't stop Ducati certified technicians from holding to that belief. Can we please keep faith out of engineering?

This needs to be on the That's BS thread. Sorry Patrick, how aggravating. I've ridden with you so I know it's nothing you are doing while riding. No way. And if AMS put it all back together this last time then what does that say? Bad hub/pins? Sounds like if Bayliss' crew had put it back together then it still would have happened. What's up with this pin #1 crap? Hope you get it replaced before Arkansas. [thumbsup] Does the wheel hub with the holes for the pins look OK? In other words are the holes wiggled out any? Is the rear wheel retaining nut some way, some how coming loose? Nah, that would be stupid, you'd feel the squirreliness immediately. Forget that.

Puzzling evidence. :P

The nut was still on tight this time, and there wasn't any wiggle room when it was all torqued down.

I'm still going to AR this weekend to see how much more damage I can do. ;)
