has anyone ever wrapped their Monster's pipes?  if so, can you offer any suggestion as to material, where to buy and such things?  Oh, this time there will be a MOD party.  I will have plenty'o beer and whatever else you require.

Another option is to get the pipes ceramic-coated.  I'm planning on getting mine done for two reasons - a little less radiated heat, and cosmetics (so it looks cleaner).

Wrapping gets a little nasty-looking after a while, especially if it gets wet too often.

Depending on the length of pipe, it's not too bad.  Someone with a 999R had his quoted for $160 in the standard stainless look...and those exhaust pipes are longer since it is an undertail exhaust. They will charge based on the length of the pipe that needs to be coated.

that's pretty cheap actually.  I will call to see what they say on Monday but since I have an extra set of stock exhaust I can always try my hand at wrapping.

i wrap my exhaust. the look with the exhaust that i have is much better but if i had the big cans like most i would prob ceramic coat. anyone here who has seen mine can tell you what it looks like. i like the look gives it more of a hot rod , tough kinda look instead of pretty boy, sweet pea. very inexpensive, not hard to maintain. i ride rain or sun, cold or warm. not if you follow the directions and treat it with th appropriate sprays. mine looked fine for more than a year until i bottomed out and it ripped.

Every trip I take seems to bring the rain and even snow and hail before so the wrapping may be the ticket, thanks.
Do you happen to have some pics I could see?

no pics close up at least. but i can answer any ?'s you may have. use the dei header wrap. the dei clamps can be tricky but once you figure it out they r easy. just make sure to clean exhaust off then hit with a scoth brite pad to take off any bug guts or something like that. then i washed it again, dryed it , wiped with an alcohol pad. i hung my exhaust in the garage, unravelled the wrap and put it in a bowl of water on the floor and went to wrapping. give it plenty of time to dry so the wrap gets nice and tight on the pipe. afterwards spray your sealant on it (also made by dei). put it on the bike. when you first start bike the sealant will seriously stink (it's normal don't freak out). then whenever you wash the bike, do chain maint or before long ride just spray some sealant on it and go. only takes a sec. i wrap a piece of cardboard around the bottom of the motor onl takes 10 secs.

Also, to keep it looking nicer for longer, start at the back and work your way forward.

If you start at the front, the little exposed edges tend to fray a bit from the wind.
