How fast is your Ducati? 0-60 mph

I've been asked several times, "How fast?"  I honestly don't know.  Unlike car magazines and reviews, not all moto reviews contain 0-60 mph statistics.  Some do and it seems common that most any respectable bike can do it under 5.0 seconds.   Compared to most cars, that's quick!  I am particularly interested if anyone knows of times for a M696.  For the fun of it, list your bike and published or actual times.  Just curious...

The older I get, the less clout I put in 0-60 times etc. All that proves is a professional test rider can make a similar bike to your own go 0-60 in a certain period of time, it's irrelevant to everyday applications.

I would guess a 696 could do a 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds or so... Just a guess.

I know my S4R can do a 1/4 mile in under 11 seconds  ;D

The only thing that is really important is how fast you go from 0 (assume it is really cold out) to 6 inches when you ride it.

Well, I have no documentation of a 0 to 60 clocked time, but I have all the neccessary paperwork on an accurate 60 in a 35 clocking.  Once I saw the lights, I did have a fairly rapid 60 to 0 time.

http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/driven/0807_2009_ducati_monster/index.html says "less than 3 seconds." I've never timed myself, but I'd be very surprised if I haven't beat 3 flat. But maybe time just flies when you're having fun?

I bet you its really hard to keep the wheel on the ground doing a sub 3 second 0 to 60

As someone else said, it is what the bike is capable of...not necessarily what YOU and your bike are capable of.

A couple of the MC mags used to have charts in the back of the mag that listed such things from their tests...Maybe just one mag, I can't recall which.

The only number I remember on any of my bikes (and I don't know why I remember this one) is the '99' ST4 will do 0-100 in 7.4 sec. I have used that stat when people asked me about the ST and I usually put it something like "It'll do 0-100 in 7.4 sec. according to the motorcycle magazines and I think I've gotten pretty close to that..."

LA

0-60 on a 696 is probably under 4 sec. or about that.  Course, Ricky Gadston's time would be a lot different that the average Ducati rider.

I think the 0-100 time was listed at less than 7 sec. for the S4RS, but sure as hell not by me.

I only use 1st gear cause it's on the way to 3rd, where the fun is anyway.  If I tried to nail 1st or 2nd the bike would just flip over backwards. :o

I hope this helps.  Sorry I didn't find anything on the 696

Per Cycle World June '02:
Ducati M620ie
1/4 mile time - 13.00 sec. @ 100.005 mph
0-60 time - 4.1 sec.
top speed - 117 mph

Motorcycle News 2006:
Ducati M695
Top speed  125mph
1/4-mile acceleration  12.3 secs (seems a little low compared to other 695 times I've seen)

Motorcyclists 2007 test of a 07 S4Rs
"60 mph arrives 3.1 seconds after the last green light. If said light marks the beginning of a bona fide quarter-mile dragstrip, Mr. Monster arrives at the other end in 10.7 seconds doing a respectable 126.6 mph. That's marginally quicker than our '05 S4R, which got from 0-60 in 3.3 seconds and covered the quarter-mile in 10.8 seconds at 126.1 mph."

Motorcyclists 2006 test of a 06 S2R
"The lack of a radiator and its unsightly plumbing makes the S2R easier to look at as well, especially if you subscribe to the aesthetic that says a Monster is an air-cooled motorcycle. Such simplicity makes the 436-pound S2R 10 pounds lighter than the S4Rs, and less expensive at tune-up time. Still, you can't argue with Testastretta horsepower at the dragstrip. Despite a respectable 11.42-second, 116.17-mph quarter-mile, the S2R 1000 is nearly three-quarters of a second and 10 mph behind the S4Rs. And though the Desmodue twin is edged out in a 0-60 mph sprint as well-3.42 sec. vs. 3.12-less weight and more power in the basement make it easier to ride."

I'm sorry, but I find it VERY hard to believe a 696 does 0-60 in less than 3 seconds...

Motorcycle Consumer News tested the 696 in the October issue.

They didn't test for 0-60...

They got 12.21@108.35 with a top speed of 129.2 mph...

Seems like a far cry from a 3 second 0-60 machine.

The numbers are better than they got for the 695 or the 620.
