I am in awe!!!  It's right here, just about 3 miles from my house!!!  The guy is rebuilding it for a client.

Felt like I was touching the holy grail!!!!  I've seen them in books, but not in person.

I'm in love and yet can't have :'(

Yeah, I could afford it (eventually  :o), but who'd take care of it??  Who'd keep it in tip top shape?

Frickin' snow!

i have had guys reach back and grab my crotch in an attempt to get around me. i'll either blow in their ear or ask them politely to let go of my wang.

who the hell knows??

That's why I'm in awe.  I'm not sure what I'm looking at, and yet I know it's valuable!!!

The mechanic is from Italy and each time I stop by it's easier to understand the broken english.

He's got all kinds of cool bikes.  and if he can't find the parts, he makes them.  HE MAKES THEM!!!  He's an artist to me!!!  He works on old or new.  Saw a 2004 V-Max last time I was there.  THat's an old Kawasaki next to the Ducati - the 3 cylinder collectible one.

They got rid of the trellis. Ruined it.

I think that bike is known by it's gas tank. I can't remember what it's called right off hand.

Isn't that a Bevel Head  ?    Dolph
'08 Ducati 1098 R    '09 BMW K 1300 GT   '10 BMW S 1000 RR

Shortest sentence...." I am "   Longest sentence ... " I Do "

Oldfisti

Definitely a bevel. Is that an old school steering damper at the top of the tree?

I believe it is known as the jelly mold tank.

what trellis?

There never was a trellis. It's my way of poking at people who claim the new monster isn't a true duc because it no longer has a full trellis frame....

SP3

The mystery Ducati is a wide-case single. Early 68 through 1974. None of them had the "jelly mold" tank. They were on some of the earlier narrow case models. Whether narrow or wide case models, they had shaft-mounted spiral bevel gears driving the camshaft.

The 696 may be a Ducati, but it isn't a Ducati Monster without a full trellis frame.

That's not really our call to make, no?
